turns out my cams still aren't dead on... The head gasket I got was too thick...

Cams are still off a degree or two, and the car just doesn't have as much power as it should.... Any way to fix this other than 350 dollars worth of cam gears? I was about to order, when I saw that 163 dollars was the price EACH. Like offset dowel pins or something? Maybe slightly slotting the oem cam gears dowel pin holes and tighning the crap out of the cam gear bolts?

If not, does anyone have some cheap cam gears they'd like to sell me? I really really can't justify spending that much on a set of cam gears!

thats what I was thinking I had seen a while back... I guess I need to call summit? Is it ok to run the car like this (other than lack of power) or am I going to destroy something....?

I wouldn't push it too hard Gixx.

I can't see it being that far out that it would cause damage.

Have you tried the other 2 holes to see if they're closer?

there aren't alignment marks on the other two holes..... or do you mean move the dowel to one of them..... Are they slightly offset or something?

my gears are off about 2-3 degrees according to where my CPS was previously set and where it is set now...(or was set before I adjusted it.

yes the other holes are offset a couple of degrees

If you put a pin in hole 1 in the cam and hole 1 in the pully it will offset the cam a degree or so.

Hole 2 in both is 0

Hole 3 is offset the other way

I wouldn't bother with the dyno till you correct the timing.

so if they head is higher than it should be, which hole should I try? I'm going to be working on a very limited time frame in the morning.
