Diff is out, thanks to a fellow mk2 enthusiast who just recently removed a diff from a junkyard and it was still fresh in his head.

I just don't think my wee little arms could produce what was needed to break the damn things loose and I couldn't get a friggin' mallet in there.

So I started removing shit this morning at 9am, engine was out at 12pm. Surprisingly, the wiring harness didn't give me much grief going through the firewall, but the passengers side motor mount was being a bitch. The drivers side strut housing ended up eating one of my damn necklaces (don't ask how it happened)

By the time Matt got here to snap pics, I had already drained all the fluids, pulled wiring through, undid speedo cable and reverse light, took out throttle cable, undid the fuel lines (forgot to relieve pressure first, OOPS), loosened tranny X member bolts, and some more shit I can't remember. Ended up cutting a few hoses because I didn't want to deal with them, no biggie.

On to the pics!

Whoops! the only damn thing I forgot to undo before pulling.

My tranny likes to store money, the cheap bitch.

Special thanks to Matt for taking pics, helping me remove the hood and with the engine hoist. Should be fairly easy to cut the front end off now! And weld her back together. Really glad that I managed to do this by myself in 3 hours! :)

Girls are so neat, I get dirtier than that just putting oil into my car...

Damn, LOL. It took me almost 30 minutes in the shower just to scrub off. Still have a little crap on the sides of my fingernails I'll have to dig out.

Today was a great day! Maybe tomorrow I'll swap the tranny and put my 4.10 diff in, we'll see.

Try getting some of those heavy duty Nitrile gloves...they work great for me! :)

And nice job on the car! I don't think I could have done all of that work in such a small amount of time! :aigo:

Gloves? Ew!

Sorry, I will not wear gloves to work on cars, I am not afraid of getting dirty. I like to be able to feel the parts I'm putting my hands on. Gloves desensitizes everything, don't like it.
