Randy has more photos coming soon, but here's my update: We replaced the doors with 2 new mint rust-free doors. Randy has finished the basic shape of the front fenders. We decided to reduce the size of the flare and widen the body of the entire length of the top of the fender. This will not only match the rear better, but will make the entire front end look wider! Here's some pics of the master's quality work
Other stuff for your interest: Fuel door hardware relocation:
Front LED side markers I've decided to go with. They are for a late model Mitsubishi EVO, ordered from the UK. I think they will nicely match the rounded wedge shapes in the Bomex front bumper. With the angular stock-bodied MK3 these might look out of place, but my car has got so many curves in the bumper, fenders, and sideskirts, that I think it will really update the look of the car. I want average folk to think that the car is some 2007 prototype supercar when they see it
Made by Bonniebuttons on eBay: Got my custom boots and armrest cover stitched from extra leather and seude materials from my new seat covers. Sexy trim I must say! Getting the armrest cover to fit without wrinkles was a real challege. I had to pull it super tight in many areas and screw the material to the plastic underneath to keep it taught.
Also, the full-bar LED JDM tail light retrofit is a go. I have separated all the JDM lenses from their housings, including the center lens, and will embark upon the challenge of soldering hundreds of Superflux LED's to 7 large PCB boards, complete with voltage regulators and pulse-width modulators to control brightness. This will radically change the appearance when lit. Every bit of red plexi in the lenses, including the edges, lines, and center peice, will light up!
