Probe Forged Pistons: You want 'em? GB!

What kind of testing, if any, does Probe intend to do before we get these pistons? Or are we going to be the guinea pigs for this?
I'm not sure what you mean? A forged piston is a forged piston - the only question as far as Probe's quality goes that I would have, is how well they have been able to machine their pistons, and how good is the quality of their 2618 alloy.
Roush Racing tested their SRS pistons (the same style that we will be getting) under a 12 hour test, between 4000-7000rpm, running from very rich, to very lean (including detonation)
This is what the Probe piston looked like after the test:
The skirt looks PERFECT, and there is no real wear on the piston. Further, Shawn told me they gave Roush instructions of running 2 thou piston-wall clearance, to test their barrel-taper style skirt.
These are high quality pistons. If they weren't, they wouldn't be going into MY build!

Awesome, awesome. I want to try to get this moving this week! I'll get ahold of Shawn, see how everything is looking 
now it just depends on the date, and if i need to get my motor bored over. it should be good, concidering it has under 60k on it.

well, the head is gonna get taken off, and the block needs to be prepped for a MHG, so might as well have them check it while they are there.
yanni has a point doward, there are quiet a few mkii sportin the 7m's over there...including myself

Christ, sounds good! I'm not a member over there, and really, I don't want to just show up and try to pass it off that I know what's up - let's face it, the guys over there don't know me from a hole in the wall

OK, It doesn't sound like this is going to be in our hands for a couple of months yet, but I'm not gonna be one of those GB guys that backs out at the last minute either, so I'm gonna go pick up all my machine parts from the shop, and sit on them till this happens. I was hoping this'd get going sooner, but I understand how these things take alot of time to work out(ring choices, size choices, skirt choices, prototyping, producing, paying, shipping..) I just hope that I can put my new engine together by mid-summer, is all. I'll prolly ending up bringing the block back for boring so that I can get the 83.5mm size.
I think we've got all the specs down, now it's just a matter of Shawn looking at the head and stock piston, and see how the design is going to be. Once we have that, this GB starts officially!

And arggg.... failure on my part guys - I JUST got the head/piston out. (I know, I know - I kept saying oh I gotta do this, oh I gotta do that - well, the hell with it - @ 12:20am it got shipped via FedEx)
I'll let Shawn know, as well as see if he's started any preliminary work on the pistons!
