Noisy in use? I wonder why?

Bwest, yep, that's a pic of a teflon scraper :) Not sure if I'll go teflon, or the normal 1mm fit, since I have the ability to bring the motor to them, for an EXACT scraper for my crankshaft.

I got the Chromoly flywheel off ebay, in a 6 puck clutch kit :)

Dyno results? I don't think all this work is going to increase my power output of the 57 trim ;)

What it will do, is lay a solid foundation for me to kick Jake's ass all over the panhandle :evil2:

Anyway, I didn't see if you planned on trying to increase or decrease the size of the engine. Are you staying at 180 CID?

I'll be doing a minimal bore, most likely (hey, 212k miles will wear on any engine out there) so I'll most likely be cruising on an 83.5mm bore. Not enough, imho, that the increase in displacement is worth it.

The stroke of the 7M is actually just a bit more than I would like in relation to the bore - but then, a 3.582" stroke, is still a small stroke in relation to what I'm used to (400 Poncho with a 3.75, or a 455 with a massive 4.21" @ 6500rpm!)

Actually, Nick, now that I think about it - you may be right about power output increase. Lighter rotating assembly = less work needed to spin it. A small bump in compression, and optimized quench will give me more power per unit fuel. Crank scraper + knife edged crank will reduce windage in the crankcase, freeing up more power.

I suppose the more accurate thing to say, would be that I won't be making more power - just freeing up power that was already there!

I am not in favor of destroking the crank either. I was wondering if you were going to try the 3.2, or hog it all the way to 3.6 and see if it held. Good to hear you aren't.

Nope, just gonna build what I can, with what I got :)

jdub, I'm actually thinking I'm going to increase the quench around .38mm, and go with a .062" ICS Titan gasket, when they are ready. (about a 1.6mm)

Ordering ATI damper + assorted fluids (12qts of 5w30 Redline) right now.

I figured you'd do that after you thought about it ;)
With the pistons you're planning on using, I think it's a good call.

Will the ICS match the bore size nice and tight?

(excellent choice in oil BTW)

Dunno - have you seen my other thread? It's a poll on piston size for the new ICS Titan gasket... well, indirectly, at any rate.

See, they had it on the books as the 7M having an 85.7mm bore! I gave them the correct info, and told them Toyota doesn't recommend anything over a .5mm bore - Aaron asked me what size was common in the aftermarket, as far as pistons go. So far, I think it's 84mm is the most common :) The extra 2mm could be the difference in whether or not they can build the community a top notch gasket!

If the ICS lives up to it's potential, it should be great!
I'm betting the most common oversize is a 83.5mm...(where in the heck did they get 85.7!)

Nick, same as what I thought.... Either way, getting them the correct information will only allow them to make our gasket stronger :D

The gasket will probably end up as an 84mm gasket :)
