I havn't done the SOGI mod. I've thought about it though. I really dont like how tall the stock shifter is, but I'm afraid I'd do the mod, hate it, and not be able to go back. Like Keith said, I'd really just rather have the console higher up, keep it at or just below the height of the arm rest. But there isn't really a way to do that :(

i love the sogi mod. (mine's even shorter than that mod calls for anyway, and re-threaded for the stock knob...) no missed shifts for me. get some good gear oil, the green truck shifter gasket and a new bushing, and you're golden.

I did the SOGI mod and I like it alot. Definitley put the new bushings on. For a shift knob I went to the junkyard and found an older Z. The Z's shifter is thinner than our factory one is. So when you do the SOGI mod you are left with a thinner stick. I cut threads to match the Z's knob and viola'! I have a screw on knob without having to cut the stick even more or weld the old threads back on.
Also Honda Civics have the same thread size as the knob I got. I believe the size is 10x1.25.

So who makes true short throws?

Don't know if anyone else has posted this up... not going to read the whole thread to find out.

I have one of those in my 89 and one in my 84 as well. Very nice shifters. I got them through a group buy for about $270-$280 each I think? That was with shipping I believe

P.S. The ones I have and that I linked to were designed and made by Jim King. S3 was just the company he had mass produce them.

With all the MOOKEEH shifters sold on ebay, no one here has one? Just like to see how good it is relative to the price.

I have had the SOGI shift mode for about a year now and I like it. Definitely get the green truck gasket and new bushing, feels great and I don't miss shifts at all. the real benefit has been with my girlfriend, because the stock shifter is too tall to facilitate road head. The shorter shifter makes this much easier.

I like my sogi. No rattles or vibrations, not notchy. Have new gasket and bushing also. No problems with mine besides missing 3rd on fast shifts when I first got it, but it only took a few weeks and I had it just like stock, its 100% satisfaction now ;)

ROFLMAO - now that's a unique reason for switching for sure! Do you have a padded dashboard too? :D
