I need to replace my oil pan gasket, it looks like from the factory they use gasket maker instead of a gasket, what would hold better should I use a gasket or gasket maker to make my own seal?

NOTHING will hold better then factory FIPG.

Go to Toyo and pick up a tube or two, the stuff is 10000xs better than normal auto sealant.

Only "issue" with RTV compared to the Toyota FIPG is the RTV bonds and is really hard to make let go if you have to pull the pan later on!
(I trashed my old steel pan pulling it off)

I had the same problem taking mine off, it was such a bitch to take off. I had to stick a knife through and then go around the pan with the knife before it would even start to move :icon_mad:

Heat is your friend to remove parts held together by rtv. Just run your tourch around the flange on the oil pan. It will peel right off.

Try turning it around........:nono:

Same pan rails on the block same pump mounting they're interchangeable.

use toyota FIPG or Permetex FIPG will do the same.

The turbo pan WILL fit the NA black. Same flange pattern all around, the only thing different is the center sump. If it doesnt fit then use the front sump oil pan but it should fit with a center sump. Using the front sump on the MK3 will not fit cuz it will hit the xmember.

I have it the right way, for some reason this NA block has a different oil pump position. The 2 pans turbo and NA have oil pump hoes cut in completely different positions. The NA block has a big hole in the center for the pump and the turbo has a small hole cut on one side. Guys im not crazy the NA and turbo pans I have are completely different!

I also recommend FIPG when possible. That said, I've done two using aftermarket gaskets without leaks. The key is surface prep and proper torque. Usng a sealer like Permatex Aviation is good too. Also, although it may be obvious to most, when using FIPG on any surface be sure to run the bead around the inside of any bolt holes.

You may have a PICKUP from a centre sump motor...

The Block and Pump mounts are identical between NA and GTE.

Try swapping out the pickups and make sure you use a new O-Ring (it should be in the gasket set)
