so you build your car just to get respect by the "tuning world"?? thats fuckin sadPoodles said:last time I read about cheap cars to upgrade, the MKIII was looked over for being "too heavy" "has headgasket and rod bearing issues" and "wasn't as good as the later model ones"
it's not just an issue of the MKIV guys, but most of the tuning world it seems...
Umm, I'm pretty sure a lot of people build cars to get respect out of the tuning world. :hsugh:Supraboostin said:so you build your car just to get respect by the "tuning world"?? thats fuckin sad
i guess im the only one that builds a car just for me to enjoy and not give a fuck what other people think about itCryoSlash said:Umm, I'm pretty sure a lot of people build cars to get respect out of the tuning world. :hsugh:
You're joking right?JMDigital said:I believe "better" is more a personal prefrence then a fact.
But its true. It is sort of an underdog, but strictly performance, there are several other cars that would be a much better option to beef up. The mkiii is a cult car, you like or you dont. Its not a fad car where everyone does one up cause they're the most pupular around and cheap. You still will get respect in the tuner world, but 75%+ of the mkiiis out there just arn't that respectable with either bad paint/interior, problems, or duchebag kids that own then cause its a 'supra' giving them bad names.. Just like hondas.. every ricer has a honda so nearly everyone thinks they're rice cars.. when MANY of them are fairly beefy (talking more like 5 years ago.. now people know the potential of them).. The mkiii will always be shadowed by the mkiv.. no way around it. If you want attention, this isn't the car for you.Poodles said:last time I read about cheap cars to upgrade, the MKIII was looked over for being "too heavy" "has headgasket and rod bearing issues" and "wasn't as good as the later model ones"

Much like an NFL game between two suck-ass teams (say, the Chargers and the Bears; Hey, the Chargers aren’t that bad!—JK), third-gen Supras have never been able to hold much of my interest. These Toyotas, in general, are rather heavy, slow unless turbocharged, and constantly cowering in the shadows of the superior fourth-gen Supras.
The Supra Turbo debuted in the states back in ’87. Equipped with a 3.0L DOHC inline-six and a single turbocharger, it produced 230 hp. Decent, certainly, until you consider that any knob in an Integra GS-R can get the same power with a 50-shot of nitrous and do it in a car that weighs about 800 pounds less. And like Star Trek’s Scotty, we simply need more power here.
uh huh.Supraboostin said:i guess im the only one that builds a car just for me to enjoy and not give a fuck what other people think about it

WTF does that have to do with what i said??? :slap:TurboWarrior said:If you didn't give a fuck you wouldn't build a supra. You'd move on to modifying a muscle car or some v8. Supras are way more complicated when it comes to rebuilding, modifying, the use of the electronics/tuning. Chosing turbos, all this shit required more research, time and money to get the same power as a lot of domestics or other larger displacement cars.
Parts are more rare and more of a pain in the ass to get and we are short on knowledgable people to help. If you wanted big power out of a mustang you can go to a local place that could probably get you whatever you needed.
So I think you do give a fuck yes
This it OT, but why not? hes building for him self.. He doesn't care what other people think, how would that mean he shouldn't be building a supra? your logic is flawed..TurboWarrior said:You wouldn't own this car if you didn't care.

The high performance cars of today are quickly moving into our weight arena. It seems what was once to heavy is now acceptable.
Look at the weight of a r34, or r33..Dirgle said:It's funny everybody keeps saying that the MKIIISupra is so heavy, and I agree it is.
