Don't worry about getting it fast, spend it on reliability and looks. No point it getting it unreliable for only a slight power gain. Here are a few mods you can do for reliability and power.

Intake, plugs and wires, clean the throttle body, silicon vac lines (Looks and reliability), clean the intake manifold and y-pipe, Change the oil filter (wix) and oil, change the tranny and differential fluid, rims and tires,

Hands down best way to spend 1,000$ or less on an n/a

or you can do a HG job, pick apart a GTE for its manifold, electronics and turbo, and have yourself a nice little NA-T, and take advantage of the 4.30, and ACIS...

im looking into manifolds.. and TB's

And im not going turbo.. so stop implying it. I have been wanting an NA.. all i have had is turbo supra's.. besides.. this one will mainly be for my wife... (most likely) and if i get tired of it... ill swap a turbo build in.

Im heading outside right now to start working. Im hoping to get the head off today before the rain starts.

Progress... i got intake, tb and top half of the intake manifold off... still trying to think how im going to yank the engine... i personally have never removed a 7m engine by myself.. but i pretty much know where everything is.

Im going to pull the head off first to check the cyl. walls... then ill decide weather or not to pull the whole engine or do a top half rebuild.

You don't have to take any extra stuff off the engine to take it out. Best to :

Drain all fluids
remove driveshaft,
tranny mounts,
fuel hoses,
motor mounts,
unbolt the exhaust from the Cats,
remove ecu and pull the engine wiring through the firewall,
remove all body to chasis ground,
remove the shifter fro the tranny
remove the fan shroud / fan/ as one piece
remove radiator
any other intake piping that would connect to anything over on the body side.
