The head is being professionally ported as well, staying with stock cams but going to degree them again because changing deck hight. Also going with a thin head gasket to help bump compression up even more. Might even be an interference motor now, but we will check the piston to valve clearance. Motor is getting a hone and re ring, all new gaskets, timing belt, Clevite 77 bearings, ect. I could do a fully balanced rotating assembly but that will come when I do a forged motor down the road.

Well time is going to keep me from porting the head. Got the block taken down to bare tonight, going to the machine shop tomorrow to deck it and do a quick power hone on it.

I was amazed at how well the bearings looked for 153k mile old motor. Crank looks great and all the clearances are still dead on. Simple re-fresh and this motor will be back in business!

Look into replacement SBC valve springs (search, I can't remember anything right now haha), they made a big difference on my motor when I did my HG. Top end stayed alive for a lot longer.

Well guys im waiting on main bearings because drift motion sent me .25 undersize by mistake. Sadly its the first thing that goes in other than the freeze plugs, so I haven't even started building the motor yet.

Here are some pics during the machining processes.

Mounted to be honed

Hone done setting up to deck the block

Ended up taking .012 off and there was still a little bit of pitting around the coolant jacket on no 1 cylinder. But its inside the sealing portion on the MHG so left it.

On the last cut.

Got to do the head on monday and then will start putting everything back together!
