A shim for the head? Sounds like they want to deck the head to flat, and put a thicker HG in. This is a bad idea. You need a new head. Buy a rebuilt head but make sure it's straight, and not decked too much. Using a stock gasket or MHG?

i got a felpro,, there not wanting to make it totaly flat,, there just saying its slightly beyond what they would normal want to do with the gasket that i have.. so i need a thicker gasket and it would work. what kind of gasket should i go with? i dont know the thickness of my felpro. i know HKS makes different thicknesses

they said it was like 1 or 2 thousands beyond what they would want to resurface it to?? and if they did i would need alittle bit thicker of a head gasket.. anyone know how thick the felpro gasket is?

After re-reading this I'm confused.
What did they say the warpage was at?
Would you mind clarifying that part in the bold? Throwing a ? in the middle of a sentence is very confusing if it's not meant to be there.

The gte heads are all basically the same one from any year will work.

A 7M-GE head will work too...it's the cams that are different.

The only worry I would have is you don't know the history of a head purchased from these guys...was it over heated, resulting it it getting annealed. If you did get one, I would also check the thickness...116mm from deck to valve cover surface. That will tell you how much material was removed and give you an idea if it was warped as well.

it was warped 1-2 THOUSANTHS more than they would usualy resurface... so .101mm or .102? mm they said if i had a head gasket that was 5 THOUSANTHS thicker it would work

i was told by another member on here that that amount of .001 or .002 really isnt that much if i got a thicker and forgiving head gasket and just had them take off slightly over the .10mm it would work im using ARPs and torqueing them down to like 85ft lbs

If it exceeds the TRSM spec, I would not use it...personally I'd believe the book over hearsay. Like I said, your cam saddles are warped as well, and that has nothing to do with the HG used.

On the other hand, you might get away with it...But, what do I know ;)

Sorry to burst your bubble but when the head overheats and warps, the ENTIRE HEAD will warp.
Its not localized to the bottom sealing surface.

Decision is up to you but I wouldn't use the head, as mentioned before.

LOL...why did you even ask?
Looks to me you've made your mind up and are hellbent to use it regardless of what's said here. I look forward to your future "new problem" thread.
