I will be over there whenever he opens thursday. I think he opens around ten to twelve. He can get there earlier if you're going to be in town. He only lives about five minutes from his shop. Call me when you talk to him.

My laptop is pissing me off. I have copied the stock 2jz timing map five times and saved it on the computer. Everytime I try to pull it back up, it is just like it was before I modified it to match the 2jz timing chart. This last time I did it at 10:30 at night and when I got through with it, I wrote it to the ecu and then told it to read from the ecu and it was the same thing. It just refuses to save it the way I want it too. It's blowing my mind over here. I can save it, pull it right back up and it will be totally different.

My man Rakassan bailed me out this evening and told me why my computer was acting up. Now I have it all uploaded and it idles soo much better. Hopefully, I'll have it ready to dyno thursday but I'm not making any promises.

That's great news. So you're running the 2J timing map & it makes a difference compared to the 1J map? How many miles do you have on it now?

Yes, it idles perfectly Mark. I have about 300 miles on it now. I'm going to go drive it some in a few minutes to get a few more on it. I should have close to 500 on it by tomorrow afternoon. I'm still hoping to dyno, but I haven't heard from Blake at the dyno in a few days. Hopefully he'll be open thursday.

What was causing it to act up, just in case anyone else ever has this problem?

Oh, and where did you find a good 2JZ timing map, I'd like to take a look at it just for reference. It seems like I have to run very aggressive timing in order to make power on my NA-T. Probably because of the port/head design.

When I was entering all the timing numbers into the columns on the stinger, I would press the up arrow and go to the next one, but if you don't hit the enter key, it doesn't recognize that you changed anything. You have to enter the number and then press enter, and then press the arrow keys to move to the next cell.

I posted a thread on Supraforums asking for a stock 2jz timing map and a guy posted up a 1jz and a 2jz stock map. I used it and followed it almost to the number and installed it in my Stinger. I never went above 39 in any cell though and the stock map called for a few 42's.

On the way home this evening I had a Chrysler Crossfire mess with me. How do these people know that I promised Scott and Noah that I wouldn't boost it until five hundred miles? Once I get this thing tuned and broke in, I won't be able to find him...........:3d_frown:
I had a guy in a Mazda MX6 a few days ago messing with me............:biglaugh:

I've got 350miles on the car and I'm hoping to dyno it thursday. If I do, I will take some video and post it up. I"m hoping for 600rwhp too. Wish me luck.

If you look at the map, it's a lot like the map we came up with for the 1jz, except keep in mind that the stock map is for a map sensor that goes just a little over 1 bar of boost. Honestly Jay, you should probably not be randomly making huge timing changes like you are doing. That's obviously what happened last time, and I had to make a bunch of corrections to the timing map you were running. Do it on the dyno where you can listen for pinging and monitor the afr.

Jay, I hope you are not running more than 20* in low boost numbers and are ramping i down as boost increases. I do not want to see another thread where you popped another motor.

Here is the stock 2jz map that I made using the post on Supraforums.

I want to make sure the timing is safe before I get on the dyno if anyone cares to look at it and let me know what you think. Don't be shy.

JAy, those text files you posted show nothing except a bunch of characters.

Change the extension from .txt to .EM4. Also, explorer/tools/folder options/view/show hidden extensions = yes. If you can't see known extensions, you will more than likely rename the file texastune.txt.EM4, which will screw things up....

Jay, I will try to look at your files first thing in the morning & call you. I was on a rifle range all day today & will be tomorrow, I wasn't blowing your phone call off.....

Can't get the file to open jay... even changing it back to em4.

See if you can upload it with proper extension to a file sharing server or something like that.

I went to the dyno today, but I had a horrible day. I'm not even going to tell you what the car dyn'd because I'm that embarassed. It wouldn't hold boost for anything. I couldnt' find a reason for it either. We couldn't locate a vacuum leak or a boost leak, and we searched for a while. I'm hoping to put a boost leak tester on it this weekend and get it fixed before George comes over tuesday. Hopefully I can give it another shot next week. I was on the dyno today from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00p.m. Mike (MacJac) was there with me all day either helping us on mine or working on his. I really wish I could tell you guys what it dyno'd but I can't. I hope you understand.
