89 Turbo!!!!

I bought a 89 turbo, 5 speed a week ago and i have some issues already with it.
Well i have a exhaust leak on the car and there is oil leaking in the 3000 pipe and intake pipes and intercooler pipes, just a little. not alot. My buddy said it might be the turbo. It might be blown so i m believing that. The exhaust leak is by the turbo. Not sure where exactly by the turbo it is. I don't really have money right now to take it to the mechanic to open the car up and see where it is. Second. my buddy tells me that there is a boost leak in the car, i had him drive the car and i told him to push it a little bit to see how it feels like. He said he only felt like it was giving 2lbs of boost. He checked the pipings and he said they need to be changed since they look oldish and not good and there might be a boost leak.
When i drove it around a little bit today for 10 mins. I pushed the car in 2nd gear up to 30 or 40 mph and let go of the gas and the car turned off. It's stalled.
This happen to me before everytime i push the car it's turning off. Can this be cause of the boost leak ?? and turbo ??. I m not pushing it all the way. Just a little where the stock boost gauge is lifting a little.

Also i noticed this today, my radiator was empty and all of the fluid went to the catch can and some of it over flowed out of it and got on the intercooler and some of it on the bumper ! After the 10 min drive around my neighborhood why did this happen ??

I know this is alot of read but please someone help me out !

thank you!

Your coolant resivior overflowed and the radiator is empty?

Is the car smoking?

Do an oil change, tell us what the old oil looks like coming out.
Pull out your spark plugs and look at them.
Do a compression test.
Do a cooling system pressure test.
Pull off your intake from the turbo and try to shake the turbo shaft. Tell us if it moves from side to side.

Doesnt look good. Mine was doing exactly the same thing; I found the head bolts were finger tight, and the HG had blown. My advice: stop driving the car until you figure out what's wrong with it. Follow all the steps outlined by DegrE above, and post your findings here. Good luck.

ahahah yea. The oil looks like oil. i've been checking it alot. Miles on the car is 122,600 . Car doesn't smoke at all. Ill change the oil and let you know what the oil looks like. Ill take pics. Yes the coolant overflowed in the catch can and dumped out some of it. Car doesn't overheat. I m thinking about swapping the intercooler pipings with stock. my buddy said the turbo has shaft play. Ill have to pull it out the intake pipe and check it again.

BHG most likely

Welcome to 7M supra ownership. Stop driving the car, do some diagnostics and be prepared to have to make major repairs. The good news is if you do it correctly the first time you shouldnt ever have to do it again.

too hard to say, too many options. Boost leak is possible, but I think it would have to be a big one (like a coupler blown off a pipe). But it could be an electrical problem, it could be a fuel problem....its almost impossible to give any kind of meaningful information based on what youve told us.

like I said you need to do some diagnostics. start by checking for codes.

If it's a boost leak of that proportion the car shouldn't be driving for shit!
all it will do is limp. I had a big hole in my intercooler and had to struggle to get the car to pull a hill at a 30 degree angle...at 15 mph at best. I'm with you on the fuel/electrical problem theory rather than boost leak, but like you said we need to hear more.

Well I had a coupler blow off one time but it was on a pipe that had good external mounting so the coupler sort of stayed on the end of the pipe getting enough seal to drive at low boost but it would reach a critical pressure point about 7 or so lbs and then dump all the pressure in one big cough. Once the pressure was released it would build pressure again and drive fine until the next time. Something like that is possible and it doesnt take long to check all the pipes and couplers. I would at least start there to rule it out.

when you said all the coolant went into the catchcan.... do you mean the coolant reservoir, or the oil catch can?

the coolant reservoir... sorry .. yea reservoir. and overflowed and some came out.
I think my water pump is bad. I dont think it was ever replaced.

well there is no check engine light on. ill go to autozone and see if i can get codes if there is any. My pipes look horrible. Ill take them out and take pics when i can. It's snowin/raining mix.. its gay!! i hate this weather.

check the piping from the bottom of the turbo to the intercooler and the coupler that connects the 3000 pipe and trottlebody seems to be most comman place for leaks

/\/\ yea.. its the bottom pipe that my buddy said that it looks bad and its needs to be replaced. He squeezed it and it squeezed up and went back to its shape. It didn't look normal and i know it shouldnt do that so im guessing i need to replace that. So i m guessing that might be the problem for my turn off of the car. ???

Also how hard is it to take out the turbo ?? I m thinkin about doing that and find out where my exhaust leak is coming from. Do i have to take the oil out of my car ? before i take the turbo out ?
