N/A Gas milage.

It's been discussed that no car (even N/As) need backpressure.

Also, I don't see how a free flowing exhaust would hurt gas mileage at all. I'm also sure that big exhausts won't "hurt" horsepower, but effect the torque curve.

But this really isn't the topic for this kind of discussion. Go check out the Upgrade FAQ links to read about the exhaust discussion.

For those of you with bad mpg:

If you removed, or are missing the fuel pump resistor, you will get poor gas mileage(this one took a while to figure out). Instead of 325+ miles per tank, you'll be in the 250 range. Also, the o2 sensor can go bad, and not throw a code, or trip the CEL. A lot of the little maintenance things will contribute to poor mpg as well. Plugs, wires, a dirty air filter, even dirty, old oil. Might make sure the vacuum system is intact, as well.

I drive it like I stole it, and still get 20+ mpg.

It's located on the right fender, just in front of the strut mount, bracketed to the fuel pump relay.

Supposedly, It's a "good modification" to remove it, so the fuel pump has a full 12 volts at all times, instead of just under wot conditions. Instead, you get high fuel pressure, which pushes more fuel through the system, and causes you to run rich at part throttle.

Could somebody tell me, why the heck don't I have an O2 sensor. I think I have a plug for it, though no error code is activated...and I'm supposedly not running rich anymore (tested @ 1k, 2k, 3k rpm.).
It just kind of bugs me when everyone talks about the sensor like I should have one... :D

Not running rich anymore huh? So, are you running lean? ;)

If the car is CA spec you should have TWO O2 sensors.

Notice his location.... I doubt it's CA spec ;)

To VALGE:
Is your O2 bung plated off? Why don't you have an 02 sensor and what kind of hurt are you in, MPG-wise?

If he's not gonna be specific I'm gonna choose from the three I know best:

Encino, Los Angeles, California
Encino, Texas
Encino, New Mexico

I didn't think he was in the States but around here who the hell knows? He might just as well be some super hot 17yo who none of us should be talking to who's just pretending to be a 53yo foreigner with a hard on for a 20 Toyota. :icon_razz

Yeah, that's where the flag's from. The only reference to Encino that I could find that mentions both is a very bad movie.

Anyway I don't see what the issue is... foreigner, Californian... same thing really. ;) (And NO, I have absolutely no idea what that's supposed to mean... seemed amusing 45 seconds ago, now it's dead. Perhaps someone else here will enjoy the bizarre statement though.)

It means you've never spent much time in California. If you'd had you'd know exactly what it means ;)

Many older built to be sold abroad cars don't have lambda control or cats. After all without lambda cats are useless. Ask someone in the UK for example. Lots of cars over there without the stuff. Course, their weather sucks so bad emission controls aren't needed ;)
