so i was at the junkyard today and managed to swipe up a set of mazda millenia projectors for $10. woohoo!. so immediately i got home and ripped out my h4 conversion housings and started on my retrofit. as of right now i have silicoln drying from the inside of the housings. tomorrow i will jbweld it all together from behind. Everything is such a tight fit. i will most likely have to modify the headlight brakets on the car because it seems as tho the backs hit the top of the composite brackets. so on with the pics!

day3:

i didnt have too much time to work with it but i found out i had to cut away at some stuff to make it work. it'll most likely be easier for you guys who use the tsx projectors.

does anyone know if the housings have to be vented? i belive with the h4 bulb there was a small air vent on the rubber boot. but thats long gone. i will see if i can get the glass siliconed in tomorrow so it looks more done than it is now lol

I wouldn't do dual projectors. Get some Infiniti FX35 Bixenon projectors and be done with it. ;)

So My buddy is retro fitting TSX projectors into his GTR and now has extra pieces I was think of attempting to do this to.

Would I need the FX35 projectors or just bulbs

Both. The FX35 projector housing is Bixenon. It has a shield that's moved by a solenoid. The bulbs that go in them are D2S. For the most output, stay in the 4300-5000k range. Any higher or lower, output will suffer.

Besides that, I got a set of 4300K low beam HID's from someone who bought the kit from the last group buy. With the $10 eBay projector housings (that look like the ones you have there) they are brighter than most of the kits i've seen on other cars - Aftermarket, Factory old AND new!! I just need relays on them and another set cuz one of them blew.

It throws a nice arc-like beam that makes it look like i have high beams on! Street and highway signs are so illuminated i'm worried about getting tickets for them!!

So I concur about the 4300-5000K range. They should be good. The housings are what make them shine so bright!!!! TSX retrofits, Hella e-codes, bi-xenon and all that is nice, but its all bright!

Here is a prime example of what you DO NOT want! Ugh. I'm glad you live one state away from me.

Halogen housings are NOT designed for HID illumination, which is why you get all that glare. You said it yourself, they're high enough that you're worried about getting tickets for them.

Yeah, that also means that you're blinding on-coming traffic. Wait until you cause an accident, I can guarantee you'll get a ticket then...

Edit: And they're not actually brighter, that's called glare.

yeaaa i would ditch those ebay ones..... at least pick up a pair of real projectors like i did and do the mod im doing. its still not the best but u can do it without breaking the bank.

shaeff, i gotta suffer... im in the same state, but at least i will know who to go to when i see a mkIII blinding the shit outta me lol

btw do you guys think i should paint the housing black, silver, or try to leave it chrome (if i leave it chrome you will see the silicoln because yesterday i accidently flipped one over without the jbweld drying and it screwed everything up.)

My apologies! Paint the housing black. The reflector is no longer needed when using the projector housing. :) Besides, it'll look badass when it's blacked out!

so i haven't done much research yet but i assume that since i will only have low beams i can jumper the positive lead from the HIDs to the low beam wire on the stock harness as well as daisy chain it to the high beam so that it will stay on if the car is in low beam or high beam?
