It's an 86 4x4, with the extremely rare factory turbocharged 22R.

It's been outfitted with a stage 3 iron oxide weight reduction in the back:

But the cab is in surprisingly good condition:

The interior is also in really good condition.

And the turbo seats are just so cool.

turbo light FTW

has 222k km on the body. The engine was rebuilt around 200k.

and 28" tires. I think that's factory size. Is it? Notice the Aisin manual locking hubs.

Anyways, I'm growing bored of constantly throwing money at my Supra, so I decided to put it in storage, and try something else for a while. The truck's surprisingly good on gas with the 2.4L, and because it has the turbo, it also has the beefier drivetrain of the V6 trucks. It's the best of both worlds.

Future plans include finding a good bed for the back, and swapping that on, install an R151 tranny to get rid of the auto box, and put my JZA70 intercooler on to it. I have a friend giving me a MKII 4.30 rear end so I can put an LSD in the front of this, and I'll find a MKIII 4.30 for the back.

The cab must have disintegrated to a point the previous owner didn't trust it anymore. That's a crazy contrast from one panel to the next. I've never heard of a turbo 22R.

BTW.........Is that a personalized tag, or just coincidence?

Love the license plate..

those 22r's have been known to last over half a million miles, not sure about the turbo models though, but MAN that's a rare find..

swap the bed, paint it, and go Civic hunting..

Congratulations!!! The only other engine that's turbochaged from Toyota that pops headgaskets easier than a 7M!

No, really, I hate you was looking for one of those forever. Bed rust is EXTREMELY common on hilux's, don't sweat it, just build a flatbed for it or you can get a fiberglass replica.

I don't think the diffs will swap from a supra, BUT you can easily get great stuff for em (like for instance, a Detroid Tru-Trac which is a torsen).

If you have any questions, just ask as I owned an '82 for 8 years and the damn thing never EVER left me stranded...

I know of quite a few different places to get parts if needed.

Nice truck, I've always wanted another one... namely the turbo model! Also, I about died laughing when I saw the license plates, I too would like to know if its just coincidence, or custom, or a photoshop, lol.

The diffs DON'T swap out, BUT you CAN modify the LSD to fit.

I actually found a company here in Canada that makes replacement fiberglass panels for the truck. $500 for all of the bed panels. If the metal under the bed liner is still good, I will likely go this route. If not, I'm sure I can find a good bed. Its not really a priority, just something at the back of my mind.

Neat little fact for those who have never seen a 22R-TE, the turbocharger, a Toyota CT20, shares an almost identical flange with the CT26 on the 7M. All that needs to be done is to elongate the bolt hoes on the CT26 a tiny bit outwards, and you have a near bolt-on upgrade.
I'm sooooo close to just taking my plasma cutter, and drawing a big line across the top of those panels :)

As for the plate, it's actually a photoshop...but only by one letter. It was SO close to being a hilarious plate, I decided to do that and see if anyone noticed.

Edit: Yellow13, I'll post some engine pictures tomorrow when it gets light out. Careful, don't get banned for laughing at my engine too though ;)

yeah I found it on kijiji. It was actually for sale first about 6 months ago, but I didn't buy it because it was an auto. I figured I would wait for a nicer turbo truck to come up.

6 months later, only one other turbo truck came up for sale, and it sold immediately, for a ton of money. Plus, with gas prices the way they are around here, these 4cyl trucks tripled in price. So, when he re-listed the truck, and for a lower price too, I jumped on it.

I am also looking for a small truck because they actually get decent gas milage. Something cheap to run for a daily driver. You lucked out man.

F that. I bought this truck for gas milage. If there's going to be anything new going under the hood of this truck motor wise, it's going to be a 1KD. Funny you mention that though, an R154 can be easily modified to bolt right up to the 4 wheel drive's transfer case.

Besides, I can overcome lack of power with my rediculous gearing! In low range, I can top 5th out at like 70km/h. "How slow do you want to go" ;)
