Supra28- Kurt nailed it. We want temperature based cooling, not pressure based. :) Having it thermostatically controlled makes the oil stick right around optimum temps. My particular thermostat is 180*, running through an 11x8 B&M oil cooler. The lines are small though, so nearly the entire lengths of SS braided hose and fittings will be replaced with larger stuff.

jdub has put together a great DIY for a thermostatically controlled, full flow oiling system here. Give it a read, as it should answer most if not all of your questions:

Info and link greatly appreciated sir!

Serious update time.
I did a shit ton of work this winter, and I'm better and worse off than before, all at the same time.

In some kind of particular order,

  • Pulled engine
Resealed oil pan, new rear main seal and housing gasket
Installed Time-Sert's in the exhaust manifold stud holes and used new toyota studs and nuts
    Running on MaftPro Speed Density
    550cc RC Injectors
    MKIV Apex-i intake
    Defcon DP
    Solid Motor Mounts
    Action 6-puck Clutch
    UR Flywheel
Repainted the engine bay Super Red II
half wire tuck with harness rerouted around the rear of the engine over the bellhousing and no more cross over CPS and o2 wiring, that runs along the RH frame rail
Applied heat reflective tape to the firewall area and wire harness
    IS300 C.O.P.
    N/A Valve Covers

I'm sure there is more, but I can't remember. Everything seemed fine until the 1st gear thrust washer suddenly went in the R154 I'm pretty sure, so I'll be picking up a parts car this weekend and replacing the trans with that one and thinking of replacing 6 puck disc with a solid disc as I think the chatter had something to do with the transmission's untimely death at only 93k, even though this is a sprung hub.

So far, so good with the MaftPro. I'm only scaling 10% to avoid fuel cut and adjusting the load points to compensate for the AFR. Pulls high 10:1 to low 11:1 on full throttle, still needs work, but at least it's not lean...
When in closed loop, I have it tuned to 15.9:1 on light throttle cruise. Should net high 20's on cruise for MPG. I have an AEM meth injection kit that I need to install, just need some nozzles.

Thanks! It's an illusion... A.k.a. I didn't.
I am searching for a cressida bracket still, but currently I have mismatched valve covers... :(

no, I'd need the bracket and upper intake from the na with the y-pipe, and I don't want to run that setup.

In other news, blew the stock CT yesterday, bad. Snapped the shaft and buried the compressor wheel into the housing. Then, pumped all 7 quarts into the intercooler pipes. 17psi was not it's friend, but I've never heard of such a thing with a CT, usually they just die.

Didn't notice the drop in oil pressure until a mile or so down the road, hopefully all will be well, but I heard a slight knock just before I shut it down so I'm really hoping that it didn't cause bearing damage.

Holy hell, I've never seen that on a ct! Hopefully it didn't kill the bottom end...

I hope not, but my doubts are high. If necessary I will throw rod bearings in it over the winter. It makes good compression, just needs some oil. More info tomorrow when I get at it. For now, I'm pretending like it doesn't exist. :p

Sorry I haven't updated recently... I haven't been working on it as diligently as usual, I bought a house, so that's taken a lot of my focus.

The engine is in, I replaced the rod bearings, hopefully that fixed it. I'm practically ready to start it but I'm In need of a ct26 If anyone can help.

I agree, FT. It's in my shop a couple Towns over. I can't wait to see it at my house though.

The homestead feels incomplete without it there!
