Wow I just read every page of this 26 page thread. I wish more supra owners were like you and took the care and time to restore such a great car, instead of living off eBay china parts :) I enjoyed all of your custom work and attention to detail. reminded me of my 2yr MK4 rebuild. I plan of restoring my MK3 as well. Hopefully it will have a 1UZ-VVTi high compression bored .040 over setup next summer.

Again, congrats on a stellar car and rebuild and looking forward to much more!

BTW.... I ran a coke bottle as an overflow tank for a year in my MK4..... I still have it tucked in the fender liner now! :D

A lot has happened since my last update, including blowing a big hole in front of the transmission, but here is what is going on now

Started it up and it ran great, idles perfectly.
I still need to make some fuel pressure adjustments, but it's pretty close. Just running at stock boost for right now, I am going to give the turbo a little time to get used to it's new home before I crank it up again.

Some progress finally.

Also discovered a very bent shock.... squats so much that the spring was hitting the shock and apparently bent it.

Did a little bit of nesessary rust repair. Was right above the left rear 4 link mount and subframe.

you can see the rust hole by the link mount

Small Update....

I have been working on installing some subframe connectors to stiffen up the car and to help prepare for the roll cage install.
They are not really subframe connectors really, but I tied the rear lower 4 link mount into the front subframe because they are much more lined up and I figure it will be much stronger this way. After getting both sides installed I will tie them laterally into the rockers near the rear.... and eventually will mount my rollbar hoops to that.

I am using 2"x3" square tubing
Not finished, just spot welded in mostly.... but I figured it was time for an update.
Let me know what you think.

Takes a brave man to cut channels into the bottom of a 1st gen Celica, but the work looks nice, keep it up! :)

Kind of a sad excuse for progress, but there are a few little things I left out of my build thread.

I rebuilt the turbo and got some drag shocks for the rear.

I do have some big news though!

Finally ordered some wider wheels for the back and some Drag Radials!

Here is my progress on the car and subframe connectors

Up in the air to weld underneath

Rebuilt the turbocharger and added an EGT sensor pre-turbo

What sort of wheel and tire setup are you going with? I'd be surprised if you don't hit high 10's with a good launch...

I ordered some 15x8" steel wheels with a 6.5"(crazy fwd offset) backspace, High backspace to compensate for the wider rear axle.

I will be using 215-60-15 Mickey Thompson, DR's

Don't know if I will be able to touch 10's with the current amount of boost, but that can change easily.

I am hoping for mid-low 11's in it's current form.

Guessing it's going to be kind of hard to get this thing to leave the line like I want it to with a manual and no 2-step or anti-lag...

Three foot it. ;)

Works for me, and should work for you provided your clutch can take some abuse... Clutch in, first gear, heel of right foot on brake pedal (hard), toes on the gas, build rpms around where you want to launch, start letting out clutch slowly. Should build a bit of positive pressure, and if your clutch holds, you'll take off quite nicely. Worked once for me, second time I tried it I discovered that the stock clutch was in no shape to take the power anymore, was tired...
