Lam, you know I have no problems with you or your car, but I am surprised that the ferrari owners don't give you any shit.

To the casual on-looker that doesn't know anything about cars; I can see how people mistake your Mkiii, or Lamarossa, for a ferrari.

I'm sorry to hear that people give you so much crap, but it's nice that no one said anything last night.

This is the first time I've seen pictures of your car, and from how much I've heard from other people (mainly on SF) I expected it to be horrid looking... I don't see anything wrong with it.

...especially when you consider that you obviously take good care of your car. So what if the style of your car isn't what other people would do, I'd say it's 1000000X better then any MKii/ iii/ iv that's been treated like crap and is falling apart.

Maybe it's because I'm not a diehard car enthusiast, but I like it and I give you props for putting so much time and energy into your car. You can totally tell it's something you care a lot about. It's a shame that people don't notice and respect that and instead only focus on what they don't like about it.

But I give you a :bigthumb: for the car.

Well you are a unique person without a doubt (very unique), but that is your choice and right to be that way. The thing is, many people are very different than you are, in terms as what the eyes can detect. Being different from most will make people wonder why one is different, as they may not understand why.
Personally, I would say that you have more of a right to be unique than people have a right to say mean-spirited things at other members. I mean, this is not the 7th grade.
We are supposed to be a friendly community. Troll like behavior is something adults really should not have.
The thing about rude remarks and why I stand against them is because rudeness is indeed contagious, if I (along with others) don't say something, I think we would have almost another SF on our hands.

SF is not so bad because of its members (there are a lot of good guys there; most of them really are OK), it can be less than desirable however because they really need some good deputy sheriffs there to keep things to the potential it could be at. Initiating flame wars is tolerated from what I have seen, trolls get away with it. Others see that there is no limit, so they join in on the trolling.

You and I definitely have a different sense of style and opinions, Lam, but I personally don't care what you do to your car (or if other people put whatever engines in their cars), people can do what they like to their cars, I just really care about my own ride and mostly here to trade tech info, but also make sure that this site -- that I have invested time in -- does not change to another SF. I would regret to be on a site if it ever became a place where trolls later run wild and set the standards.

I also know the difference between what one might say in IM or in the chatroom (between a few friends) to what one would not say on a forum where thousands of members have access to.

Who is to say this person should be bashed, but not that person.
That is the Q that confuses people when they don’t see that there is uniform set of rules.
When the rules change for different people, things get confusing.
I must have worked with at least two thousand kids, so I know from experience rules are best to be consistent -- for the sake of the whole.

I remember first seeing that car on some random website and thinking "whoa a Ferrari, wait... what the hell?" but it's probably his way of expressing himself. I'd have to congratulate him on sticking to his guns, regardless of what others might say. It may not be how I like it, but that obviously doesn't matter to him, nor should it. :bigthumb:

i can understand lams postion here as far as being bashed for his car,

in high school i had a friend that had 10 inch hair that he died green and straight up like trigun, he had a roling back pack that everyone kicked, wore the pants with 3 sections that can unzip, those shirts from jcpenny with the black background behind the big burning skull with flames and snakes and dragons crawlign out of the eyes and a name ,like jay B.

he got ALLOT OF SHIT. but none the less he was my friend and i respected him for who he was and i understand where you come in as being bashed for being different
