The maroon car Wade... I like the car don't get me wrong. But is just SO different from the mk2, which I feel very at home at. I do feel like I was sitting up a lot higher (and I'm not comparing it to my lowered black '85, comparing it to stock height Coyote Ugly). And then I was trying to keep an eye on the gauges and didn't want to look to far away from the road, not really liking how the instrument panel spreads out over almost half the dashboard.

This argument sounds like me and my son. Me lovin MKII's and him MKIII's. I put a 7mgte in my car and now he's installing a t4 in his. The battle is on going.

I like them both.

Pertaining to the original poster's questions, the MK2 is a far better choice for someone on a budget, compared to the Mk3 which in general has a much higher risk of costly problems, and more of them.

wait what? You drove an mk3 and stayed out of boost. Well of course you're not gonna like that experience, it's like driving a slow N/A!

lol here's how this thread looks like its going:

MK2 Owners will say: Go MK2.
MK3 Owners will say: Go Mk3.

The end :(

Lots of differences between A6x and A7x chassis. Do your homework before making statements like that.
Dont really care. Still "A" chassis. Neither car is better. Get over it.

If I had a chance to get a mk2 that was low on rust and high on potential I would pay $400 if not more right now. If all it needs is a clutch buy it. Then just save up and get a MK3 later when you find one in good to great condition. I want a MK1 as well but I have only seen one in my area and it was swiss cheese.:biglaugh:
