"Sort the timing first

Just go back to basics it's not rocket surgery.

Do a comp and leakdown test and let us know the results."

ok so i got off work early to work on it today. installed new fans removed the t stat flushed motor and rad. LOTS of rusty water came out of both im guessing because the block sat for so long...

anyways i poured a jug of coolant and a bottle of water wetter and filled it up with water and went for a spin.
it seems to be fixed! i took it for about an 8 mile ride and it only hit 180F right as i got home! before it would hit at least 150F before i even got out of my street! (about 100 yards)
it was over cast and raining out though...
i still didn't get a chance to play with the timing though my friend was not at work today so i couldn't borrow his timing light.
so i guess it was a sticky t stat?

so i drove the car to tps today (40 miles) and no overheating!!!!! but... i did have a fuel problem at first it would cruse ok abut lean out if i went above like 3k rpm and the fuel pressure was at about 40 psi. about 1/2 way there all the sudden it was running REALLY lean and the walbro started to make a really high pitched wine and fuel pressure went down to about 15-20 psi at cursing speed.
i have no idea what happened... but i guess we will find out... lol

Could be just a bad walbro. It's alot easier to drop the tank and replace one instead of pulling that head off that motor again. Glad you got the overheating sorted. I wanna see that thing one of these days.
