Everything will be out tomorrow, so whenever your ready for it
Wow, that was a lot quicker then I expected, but great news. I will need to figure out when I can take it up to Matt for an installation day, and then pick it up. Do you have a hard date when you just want it gone? Could you give me a list of everything that I will need to buy? I know you said everything was there, but things like a clutch, and anything else that typically wears out. Any recommendations on a clutch would be great.

I know you'll be asking for my goals regarding the clutch, so I'll say this: Stock and up. Right now I'm pretty much stock and will probably stay that way for a while. I have a dream of doing a complete engine rebuild in my garage with a 375 - 400 whp goal, and dropping that in whenever I might get it done, but I don't even have a block to start with yet.

BTW, thanks for the free rep! Keeps me from starting a "Gimme Rep" thread in OT. :biglaugh:

Clutch wise I'd get what I have in my car right now, the 6 puck sprung KY clutch I have will hold 470hp and its only 100 bucks and feels completely stock and I'd sell you the spec pressure plate out of mine.

Great - stock feel is a good thing. I've got to keep it wife friendly, and I drove a beast of a mustang a year ago with a clutch that was almost too much for me. Best place to get it? Also, have you done the SOGI short shifter mod on it? I'm debating whether to do this or not if it's still stock.

Thanks for the link Jay. I'd looked around for something that good on SM and SF - never thought to look over at MKIIItech. :icon_bigg

Edit: Oh yeah, while I've got the engine out I am DEFINITELY going to replace my crispy wire harness and rear knock sensor. Anybody got any suggestions here? I don't want to pay Toyota prices for the harness, but it doesn't make any sense to replace with another crappy one.

Its called kentucky clutch, its right off the brooks rd exit, he makes it while you wait lol

I've tried the short shift mod, I wasnt too happy with it, I like my stock height, I wouldnt give that up unless it was for a true short shifter.

For a harness you should get ahold of chris, the guy that was with us in the parking lot after everybody left, he works at greentree toyota and said with his discount he can get a new harness for like 350.00

I justed wanted to say I really enjoyed meeting the people and seeing all the cars, Im sorry I had to cut out early but I have a really bad back and Saturday was the most I had been on my feet in several days so my back had all it could take ( and a little more) I will look forward to another meet in the future. I have a downpipe ordered for my car and hopefully it will help a little. ( may be able to squeal the tires then,,,lol)

Thanks for making the trip. I know you & Mike had a long haul. Your 92 is one of the cleanest MK3's I have seen from the Ext, Int to the 1JZ Swap. Look forward to seeing it again. If you & Mike set up anything out your way Let us know. You really need to enter the Ride of the month contest here.

I hate to keep hogging the thread, but do know Chris's screen name? I'll PM him about the harness.

He said he just gets on supramania so I have no clue, He works at the toyota by my house, I'm going to swing by there sometime this week and see if any guys there want to do my clutch on the side, this will be the 4th time a clutch as gone in it, after doing the first 3, theres no way I'm gonna break my back again doing a 4th lol I'll get his email addy from him when I'm there.

^ Just swapping in a clutch?

Damn I wish more ppl needed work in my area... :icon_conf

Got custom Supra fabricators takin all my moneyz!

hey you arent too far away!

if you only knew all the crap he has gone thru w/ clutches youd understand why he doesnt want to go thru it again.

also, was just curious if the tranny cable helped out yours any or not.

and another thing, i watched your dyno vid. when you dyno an auto it works much better if you unplug the ect ecu. that way, you have complete control over the transmission. you can lock it in gear without it upshifting or down shifting. makes life much easier.

hey steve I heard you might know somebody to do my clutch on the side?

Yea I Do. James, he is a ASE Master Tech. for Nissan He works out of his home on the weekends unless the car has to do an overnighter. He has a full lift in his garage. He stays real busy but if you offer him xtra $ over what he quotes U on labor he might get it done faster. I'll PM you his PH #
