Yamaha have been on Toyota's payroll since the early 70's and probably before. Smart thing to do really, farm out what you suck at!

2ZZ-GE, not FE. The F and G heads are of a different design. The M and JZ use the G type heads while the UZ engines use the F type heads. I think it has something to do with the cam angles.

Sorry, merely a typo. The F designation is what Toyota calls "economical" while the G has a more aggressive valve angle.

Ariel atoms use Honda motors because there cheap and perform. There more of a kit car so you could probably have one made to use anything, but default they use whats available and performs.

the ecotec is the new 4 banger from gm it was built to replace the 2.2 and 2.4 they had been using for years in there cheaper cars. Beleave it or not there very good motors...for a gm you can get the motor turbo in th forum of the solstice gtp/sky redline or supercharged in the ss colbalt/ion redline i think its funny it took gm so long to design a good 4 banger lol

Eh the ecotech is unimpressive, its rated at something like 205 horsepower. Didnt the turbo MR2's from the early 90's make that much? hell the stock celica gts/elise 1.8 made 180-90hp all motor as said before lol

no, the ecotec is an AMAZING motor and strong as hell for what it is...

with 2 fairly simple mods it will take anything you want to throw at it...

one is the uniseat, which is a one piece valve seat fro both exhaust valves in each cylinder that is easy to replace and takes a ton more abuse.

the other is the unibolt. It's a large ass stud that goes from the head, all the way through the block to hold the mains in place.

just those options alone will make the engine nearly bomb proof (as proved by their drag cars). Did I mention they come with a main girdle stock?

And no, not compared to the honda... They put the same mods on both motors, and they're equally as powerful and quick... I want to think the ecotec was a LITTLE more powerful though, but I'd have to look it up, but the difference is marginal IIRC...

same with the ecotec, and that's the highest option level, they have lower power models...but it's still going to be wicked fast...
