The proper flywheel bolts are M10x1.0 - an oddball for GM. They are rediculously priced through GM, but I found these Ford racing parts through Summit for about $10. The goal of any project should be to minimize the number of Ford parts, but I like saving money too.

The flywheel is a custom machined piece of dubious origins. The ring gear is common to the other atlas engines, but the crank pattern is another oddball. The 4 and 5 cylinders are 6-bolt versus the 8 bolt pattern of the I6.

I'm not very close to starting it, but the next thing I want to do is test the crank circuit. So, I figure it'd be best to have oil in pan. Pouring oil into a swapped motor is very satisfying.

Toyota Supra, GM engine, clutch, Tranny, Ford bolts... If you can get some Chrylser, Mercedes, BMW, or Hyundai bits in on this build i will be very impressed.

Where did the Flywheel come from? if it was fully custom, who did it?

(good luck I feel for ya)

Good lord, it's like you disemboweled one of the machines from the Matrix, and strung the entrails through your rafters!

But...I raise you another pile of electrical debauchery:

To be fair this not all Supra stuff. I've saved every harness from every swap ever. Do you have W/B 20 AWG? Go fish!

Lol, that's what hotrodding is all about, right?

There's a story that goes with the flywheel...

As the legend goes, gm originally intended to sell the trailblazer with a manual transmission in overseas markets. In fact there was even a part number for it. A gentlemen managed to get one of these prototype parts, nobody asks how. The program died, and the parts were never mass produced, but our hero made 5 copies. That's been enough to satiate the entire demand for manual swapped 4.2s over the last several years. Limequat got # 5 and that's all there is.
I drew it up CATIA so we can cut more if necessary.

These 3 connectors are causing me a lot of hearache. I didn't get the blue one with the engine, so I had to buy the service "kit" from GM for $50. Yes $50 for a connector. That "kit" doesn't even include terminals. And no, you can't buy the terminals from GM...only the connector. Rage. DIAF, all that.

After spending half an hour with GM's finest (yes we have your terminals, no we won't sell them to you), I got smart. Using a highly modified paper clip, I depopulated all the automatic trans related pins from the connector on the right and moved them to the connector on the left. Blow me, GM, I hope you go bankrupt! Again!

This is one of the few times when a check engine light is a good thing. This tells me that the PCM is powering up and running the bulb check. Sweet.

Supra gas pedal on the left, Trailblazer on the right. Similar in appearance, but totally different in execution.
I'm planning on swapping the entire TB pedal in.

Limequat: Should you need any, and i mean ANY GM terminals, I can get them.
I work at a GM dealership, have access to all the Kent-Moore/SPX special service tool and shop supply parts.

Terminals are shop supplies. Lear, Yazaki, Delphi, etc...

I feel ya on those connectors. I've had the misfortune of pricing a $100 7-pin connector to a customer and trying to explain why it's so damn much...

Also, lmk if you need these types of things. I can get you any GM parts for 20% over cost. Terminals for probably cost.

Sorry it didn't dawn on me prior to this to let you know.

PM me with any further needs. VIN as well if you got one. I'll do what I can to help this thing run!

HPTuners arrived in the mail yesterday. Got my base calibration downloaded from the PCM. Once I get a fuel pressure regulator figured out I can start it!
