Is the whole assembly from the Corolla, or just the sensor?

Now I can lower the engine on to the mounts!

Hmm, it's sitting a little crooked. My driver side mount came out a little taller than I intended. Next step rework that and try to fit the bellhousing...

Yep, it's out of a Chevy Trailblazer, and it's certainly no "pos". It's a Wards best engine for several years, smooth powerful, and *cough* reliable. Mine has 23,000 miles on it and is a MY2006.

It's often overlooked because it only ever came in the Trailblazers/Envoys.

My mom has this engine in her TB, it seems to like to rev out (especially past the fucking shift points GM put in it) but it is of course very slow in a heavy SUV. I just checked the specs 275hp on mom's 04 TB, it feels nothing like it. I'm interested to see how it does in a much lighter form.

But FUCK drive-by wire, it left me stranded because it stuck one day. I hate hate hate that bullshit.

Could just be the angles of the pictures, but in those last shots with the 4.2 resting on the Spacer/Mounts, it's looking like the top of the engine will still be interfering with the Hood.

I'd just say "f" it, and mock up a stock hood with a taller Cowl.

The engine was sitting a bit crooked because I tried to bend my driver side mount instead of just welding it. I re-did it and now the engine is sitting nice and straight. I propped up the rear and took the cherry picker off. This is how it's going to sit.

With the exact engine placement locked down, I had to rework my pickup tube. With the stock sump depth, my pickup would be the lowest point on the car by almost two inches. Not a good thing to high-center on. I took about 2 inches out of the tube and re-brazed it:

I'm using a bellhousing from a Hummer H3. It bolts the 4200 to any of Aisin's AR5 or R series transmissions. Prior to this swap, I had replaced the R154 from the Supra with an AR5 from a Pontiac Solstice. So now, the entire drivetrain will be MY2006 "GM".

It took a little grinding on the ribs to get the bell to fit in the Supra's tunnel. As pictured, I can raise the engine until it is level with the chassis and still have a modicum of clearance. I'll see how the trans mount lines up later.

Thanks, maybe you'll come around on the motor too.

Yeah I'd say so, not to mention they can handle what you throw at them. I seen a 99 envoy? with a body kit and rims and it had a 4.2L vortec with a vortec supercharger, but to see it turboed and going into a supra is quite the feat.

By any chance would the Vortec 4200's in the Isuzu or Saab be a rear sump engine? Or are they all the same? Do you happen to have some comparison external dimensions between the 4200 and 7m?

Nope, they're all the same sump. The Isuzus and Saabs are just rebadged trailblazers. Roughly, I'd say the TB engine is about 3" longer and 2" taller, if you ignore the oil pan.
