I come from a land down under
I NEVER take the hood off even when pulling the motor, I just disconnect the struts and lean it back on a piece of foam on the screen.

Much less risk of marking/damaging the car this way removing it.

awesome idea. yeah i've had some hell with my hood. actually more accurately the halogen lamp stand that broke as i picked it up to move it. i couldnt hold up the two halogen lamps on that pole where i was holding it and it tipped right into my hood, and knocked a chip in my paint. pissed me off SO much i wanted to scream. and that was just because the hood was there, if i had removed the struts like you did, it would have probably saved me some issues. but i had my hood tied with a rope to my rafters :)

My god the vacuum lines were a pain in the ass...i think i got it all correct...i hope...the best i could do with the chart that was on my hood....the only thing was it showed a 3rd vsv and i didn't have one or a connector on the wiring harness....so i just hooked it up the way it should be but basically bypassing that vsv.....Then there was these 4 or 5 brown wires near the auto tranny connectors....i think they were grounds but i couldnt find anything on them...But i'm slowly getting there....i've been working my ass off every day....IT WILL RUN...even if it's for a few seconds or really rough....it will run! lol

The na has 2 vsv's bro. One on the charcol filter infront of the starter and the 2ndary is plugged into the driver side fenderwell. Sounds like you may have a gte hood. No worries dude.

Damn. It does show 3 vsv's. That almost had to be a canadian or euro thing.
That's pretty much what mine looked like. I tried to take a pic of mine and I couldn't get a good one and said screw it.

Get that timing belt covered up if you haven't yet. You're making good time.
I worked on mine a bit today and found a few wires I had connected wrong.
Still no crank. But the starter is clicking. It just won't turn the engine. I have one coming from toyota it's supposed to be in tomorrow.

Do yourself a favor and high temp those heat shields. Black or anything. I high temped my exhaust mani even. I know it will cook off but it's all in preservation of the high temp on the heat shields.

Don
t connect the tb pipe until after you do your plugs and wires. I'm sure you know all of this. You're doing a great job man. Keep it up.

I'm still trying to get mine started before you, ha lol.
I got a bit of a head start but you have tools I didn't. And don't.

Don't ask me I pulled the starter because it wouldn't turn the flywheel and it tests out just fine. I metered the starter relay and it looked good on the volt meter. Something is keeping it from turning the flywheel. WTF????

Sounds like the Distributor is 180 degrees out
Thats what i was thinking....how would i do/change/fix that?....Well i thought the cams would be 180 out...like have the intake valve open when the exhaust should be open......all i would have to do is get it back to tdc, disconnect the belt, and turn both cams around one full rotation...i thought...well i dunno

does the starter engage? It could be a bad starter....it may engage but no turn.......or could your motor be seized?...that would stop it from turning....lol

I come from a land down under
BD: Crank at TDC both Cams with the centre pin straight up

Pullies with the notch mark at 12 o/clock

Rotor button needs to be pointing at #1 plug wire

There is a whole section in the TRSM on setting it all if you follow that step by step you can't go wrong.

I have already checked all that you just mentioned.
I think I'm going to scheme a way to push or pull start it.

Get it going down a hill and get it up to speed and start it with your tranny...just pop the clutch while in gear.......except at a higher speed...lol.....

What about the clutch start switch?...if it isn't making a connection it won't turn over......You can by pass it but you MUST have your clutch in(or stick in neutral) cause it will start with it in gear and that isn't good lol
