Is the GT3540R turbo worth the money?

Why does the gt35R more if the pt67 can do 500rwhp easier than the gt35r?

Also do you sell the gt35r with internal wastegates?

Cheers,

not sure what you are asking. why does the 67 make more power or why is the 67 a little cheaper.

to answer both, like dr j said, the power difference is because of a 61mm compressor wheel vs a 67mm wheel.

price wise, i just happen to get a better deal on the 67.

not sure about the internal gate, i'll have to ask if it is available that way.

ij.- i agree on pump gas boost levels the horsepower is going to be similar. however, at upper boost levels the smaller t3 is a little more restrictive than a t4.

WE need more dynos of the GT35.

IJ, didn't you max out the GT35 at 535rwhp at 30psi? I thought a 61mm turbo should max out around 600rwhp at high boost.. I guess.. unless the turbine wheel is really limiting flow.

I still don't understand how some of those EVO's are pushing 650rwhp with this turbo. And if its some hybrid GT35, I want to know what it is..

Price is not determined by how much horsepower it makes, it is determined by how much you are willing to pay.

From what I gathered, the GT35R and the P61 BB are very identical. The 61mm turbos were compared to the 67mm turbos on SF, and the 67mm actually did beat the 61's in spool on most dynos with the 2J, and made more power (duh).

67DBB should be considered an option over the GT35R.

depends a lot on design of the turbine and compressor wheel as well...

new turbo tech will spool a hell of a lot faster than the old antiquated stuff...

I would like to see a link to that thread that you are talking about.

from what ive seen the 67mm ball bearing turbos such as the SP67gtq wont really come hard into boost untill above 4 thousand RPM and ive seen IJ post he has seen 1psi at 1900rpm on his gt35r. spool between a 61mm and 67mm are quite different. unless the 61mm housing was like a t6 with an AR of like 1.90 and the 67 had a t4 with a .6 AR housing.

67DBB made more torque sooner in some dynos, some dyno's they are even. You can play with exhaust housings all you want to achieve your own personal goals.

As far as spool time, the smaller turbo will obviously spool faster, excuse my first post. More power with the 67DBB, and to me and it's not a considerable difference in lag.

Here is a good article showing a comparison between the T61 and GT35. Its a 3.2 liter inline 6 so it's going to spool a bit better on BMW.:http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=286739

Good stuff man.
If you read the thread the GT35r did 532rwhp on .82 A/R and on 93 octane pump gas!!!
And who said Gt35R cannot do 500rwhp on pump gas????

The 1.06 A/R housing would give more hp right?

Looks like the Gt35R is the best option to go for.

Cheers,
Roy

Here's more info. Scroll down to the turbo kits with GT35's.. One guy is making 635rwhp on a 2.8liter.

I'm really starting to beleive after these guys putting down high 500's on pump.

Very cool!...I just read that.
Looks like the bemmer guys are pulling more power out of the Gt35R than us even with less displacement...stock 2.8 liter.

Cheers,
Roy

1/2 off: are there any solutions to bolt-on GT35R? I mean some kind of adapter with WG outlet + downpipe...
Here's my situation: I'm in Russia and shipping from US isn't cheap. SP61 for example with shipping costs here more than GT35R from Garret's dealer..
But on the other hand, I have troubles with fabricating things myself (cutting, welding and so on) and small stuff (oil/water fittings, flanges etc)isn't available here...

So I need someone who can make "kit" (manifold adapter, oil/water lines, downpipe flange with short piece of pipe) so that I get turbo from local dealer and install it with minimal fabrication (downpipe only maybe).
Any suggestions?

true, but those motors have a lot higher compression than we do.

mr y- not the cleanest solution, but you could simply redrill the t4 housing to mate to the stock housing. most likely youd have to run the E cover on the gt35r. i dont think there is enough clearance to run the S cover, i havent fitted it like that before.

here is a pic of the modified housing-

we have thought about making an adapter, w/ provisions for an external wastegate so it could be bolted on. that is still in development.
