i have seen so many threads here where some ask a question to double check somthing and the get responses from people that just want to type shit. are we not here for help? i used to think of this place as a comunity/family.

eh i guess search for some of my posts? haha some people dont take my humor too kindly.

some people are just over sensitive babies and you cant cater to them. these forums are great, no one is really outright mean to other people, and for the most part all of the sarcasm i see on here is directed at those who deserve it.

maybe they will remember the advice given to them a little better if it actually go them to feel something, like HUMOR. sometimes though unfortunatly they feel anger, or that they are being made fun of in a malicious way, but they will still feel some emotion and therefor are morelikely to remember the advice given to them.

i dont want to point finger, but some that have been offinsive are in this thread and others are not.

with that said, search. use me as an example. i do my best to not talk down to others. i share what has worked for me. or what i have found to work. i do my best not to give false info and lead some one the wrong way or talk shit in the process.

some people have changed their names for one reason or the other. no my concern. but if one could talk bad to people and then go to another name, thats just wrong.

some people can use humor and "shit-talk" in a way that no one is offended. newbie or not. others just cant seem to help but be a smart ass all the time.

I've read your the thread. And honestly I don't see anything wrong. I see some valid suggestions and a tounge in cheek reply about using a crane (i.e. - saying that keeping the ic in the car is the difficult part) and a post telling you that this is a symptom of a larger problem and you should check on that..

I don't see anything in your thread I would find offensive if I were the poster. I'm going to go post a reply over there because I have input on the topic, but I don't want to drag this thread off topic...

some people on here just dont get it. ask some very well contributing members on here, and i am sure they will tell you the same thing.

these people who come on here and ask for help, but dont like any answers given to them, or want to find shortcuts or want to complain about being picked on, let them fade away.

they end up waisting all of our time with pointless threads about wanting to run without knock sensors (when they dont even understand why that system is in place, or how it works), and threads like this one.

maybe i am being too harsh or am out of line? i am sure the mods here, grimjack for example is/are well aware that i respect the mod team we have here and i will trust their judgment on forum matters. i think the mods here do a great job, we are lucky to have many extremely knowledgeable members who help out whereever they can.

these forums are great, and i say dont let a few people complaining about "attitudes" let anyone else think otherwise.

like someone said recently, let the people who just dont get it fade away.

jetjock is a great example of a VALUABLE member. he knows what hes talking about. from all of the posts i have seen, he has exhibited much patience with certain members.

i still think of this site as a comunity and as one of the best mkiii sites out there. and even though i've never really met anyone from this site i still see all of you as my friends. and yeah, some people can be alittle sarcastic. but i dont think that they are truly trying to put anyone down. alot of the problem is that when you read the words someone writes, you dont get their tone of voice. hard to tell when they are joking, being sarcastic, or really being an ass.

Some of the posts in that thread deserve harsh replies. The way the ECU works is documented. It's not all that difficult to go read up on how it works.

I still do. However when people post dangerous misinformation, I expect that our knowledgeable members will jump all over that person. And I agree with it. Posting idiocy should have it's price.

The information posted out here is often taken at face value by new owners and those who are less technically knowledgeable. The only reason these guys get upset is they don't want to see someone read some idiocy, take it as valid advice, and then go off and blow up a motor.

I believe Abraham Lincoln said it best:

"'Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

Most of the replies in that thread, although harsh, are dead on based upon what they are replying to. Could they have been done a little more 'softly'? Yes, they could have. But I've got more of a problem with uninformed zipperheads giving out advice than I do with well informed people getting a little shitty with the ignorant.

And as for the guy who came back a couple of posts later and saying "i never said ne thing i was saying was gospel" is also bullshit. If you weren't sure when you posted information, you either shouldn't have posted it at all, or qualified it by saying so.

And this is the crux of the matter. You say you are here for help. The people you are upset at are trying to ensure that you actually get help and not some advice that is going to damage your car.

Yes the replies were harsh, but as I said, they were no where near as offensive as the uninformed nonsense in that thread.
