couldnt tell you off hand, but the shop where my car is at has a few sets of both cams sittin around, so ill see if theyll take measurements on the cams and see what the difference is

thanks, I am curious to find out. Either way, the 2jz cams can only help the 1jz...just a matter of how much.

Also, all this talk about the JDM cam being "mild" in comparison to the US ones:

Its 224deg/7.8mm lift vs 233deg/8.25mm lift - a TINY difference. We're probably talking about a 5rwhp difference from the cams alone. If the JDM ports are indeed better shaped because of the lack of the EGR, this would make up for the difference in the cam anyway.

There's is probably a good chance that toyota put the slightly bigger cam in the US head to make up for the interference of the EGR setup - anyone have any idea about this?

Please Please, Package the cams tightly if you ship them to me, the cps tabs are very very very fragile.

I would suggest the Fedex Triangle tube for shipping, its what i prefer to ship in. You can package the cams very tightly in them.

both can be done. the USDM cams have SLIGHTLY larger lobes (I think it is referenced in this thread by me or BigZavs), due to the EGR equipment, thus provide slightly greater gains.

in other words, both can be machined, but the USDM cams are preferred over the JDM cams.
