If you could have any aftermarket part what would it be?

it's really just a problem of WHO the average MKIII owner is nowadays....:3d_frown:

i wouldnt say its really a bad thing yes young kids myself included are buying mk3s but is that really a problem that we cant afford 2000 bucks at the drop of a hat. i dont think so. the problem i see is the demand and then the support. the young kids are wanting all these amazing parts they see for the mk4 and then they realize how much this stuff costs so they complain and backout. its like a want versus need issue.

the hope is 5 years from now there are a bunch of 25-35 mks owners with lots of money willing to invest to go faster

and hopefully mks continue to be saved from the junkyards because i see more and more in junkyards everyday which only means fewer on the streets

I love how all motor built 2J's sound has any one ever done this on a 7M I mean I think it's a waste of money cause going turbo your going faster for cheaper but also for the reson the 7M dosent rev like the 2J or rev as quick as it.I still rather go turbo no matter if it's a 7M or 2J.

maybe i was misunderstood

i aggree with currently the general population of mk3 owners do not have the cash to push products further

what i was discussing with the doctor was that this isnt necessarily something to look down upon.

yes its a problem from getting high end parts produced but i belive the lack of aftermarket support drives more creativity and development on a individual level.

think about it how much stuff have you or anyone else made because noone else made it the way you wanted it

this enviroment has allowed smaller companies to really take the lead in the mk3 supra product area

companies like

arz
mdc
dr jonz
ron

and many more
these people and companies simply wouldnt have the support they do if the manufactures were supporting our cars

some day soon the image of the mk3 owner will change. especially once the pinks episode airs :)

That 2J with ITB's is sweet... sure a turbo is fastert, but it depends a whole lot on what type of racing you're doing...

Back to the discussion at hand, how about a nice lightweight Al engine block?

(I'm sure there are a plethora of reasons that this shouldn't/couldn't/wouldn't be done, but it would be nice to have...and there would be less thermal strain on the HG)

well, it is an old, cheap car now...The money spenders have several different (i hesitate to say better) platforms to build from nowadays...it is just the way it goes. Give it 10 years, I'm sure you will run in to a boat load of cheap mk4 guys.

You probably have to use an alloy about as dense as steel to make the block stout enough to handle high HP.

I'm gonna have to disagree, as the LS series is all aluminum and pushing some pretty monsterous power...

Not to mention our engine design is stronger with 7 mains...
