From the other side of the parts counter, you'll see hundreds of dumb people that try and act like they know what they are doing.
On Sunday this guy comes in looking for a battery for his 91 mustang. Black POS with this huge hood cowl. I try to make small talk and ask him what's done to the car and he says it's all stock. Ok thats fine. I look thru the parts computer and find an appropriate battery for his car and he tells me he wants one with the most power to start the car. He tells me he doesn't want one made for the car, he wants a different one not listed for the car. I say to him, I can't tell you which battery to choose if you're going to do that, but if you'd like, be my guest and choose a battery. I already knew he was going to be a stubborn ass so I was hoping he would give up before finding one. I told him to look for the CCA rating and go from there. He picks out this beast of a bosch battery I think made for a Volvo so it's a big battery and has a pretty high output of CCAs. He comes back in yesterday night at around 8 pm yelling at the top of his lungs to speak to a manager. So my manager Mike yells WTF from across the store because he hears him screaming about something. I call Mike up to the front and he starts going off on how the battery messed up his alternator and the battery wont hold a charge anymore. Now he's yelling that he wants a new alternator and a new battery for free. We tested the battery and the battery is holding a charge just fine. So he yells some more calling people idiots and retards and what not and finally leaves the store with the battery because we said we just called the police.
God I love Pep Boys. I've seen so many dumb people come in within the month I've been working there. I usually help them out and tell them what they need to know. But the ones that just start yelling about whatever I have no patience for.
