Last time I walked into AZ was when I asked for some NGK plugs for the Supra. The response I got was, "We don't sell EN GEE JUNK".

That was over a year ago, haven't been back to that one :nono:

From the other side of the parts counter, you'll see hundreds of dumb people that try and act like they know what they are doing.

On Sunday this guy comes in looking for a battery for his 91 mustang. Black POS with this huge hood cowl. I try to make small talk and ask him what's done to the car and he says it's all stock. Ok thats fine. I look thru the parts computer and find an appropriate battery for his car and he tells me he wants one with the most power to start the car. He tells me he doesn't want one made for the car, he wants a different one not listed for the car. I say to him, I can't tell you which battery to choose if you're going to do that, but if you'd like, be my guest and choose a battery. I already knew he was going to be a stubborn ass so I was hoping he would give up before finding one. I told him to look for the CCA rating and go from there. He picks out this beast of a bosch battery I think made for a Volvo so it's a big battery and has a pretty high output of CCAs. He comes back in yesterday night at around 8 pm yelling at the top of his lungs to speak to a manager. So my manager Mike yells WTF from across the store because he hears him screaming about something. I call Mike up to the front and he starts going off on how the battery messed up his alternator and the battery wont hold a charge anymore. Now he's yelling that he wants a new alternator and a new battery for free. We tested the battery and the battery is holding a charge just fine. So he yells some more calling people idiots and retards and what not and finally leaves the store with the battery because we said we just called the police.

God I love Pep Boys. I've seen so many dumb people come in within the month I've been working there. I usually help them out and tell them what they need to know. But the ones that just start yelling about whatever I have no patience for.

I tried to buy a PS belt from the dealership because I was tired of getting the wrong size, and the guy still gave me the wrong belt :thefinger

Every so often I get people coming in for spark plugs and when I say we carry NGK they say they don't want them cause they are crap. Some people are just like that I guess.

The best course of action in this situation should have been to reach through the phone and choke a bitch.

Bosch Platinum +4 plugs FTW! :sarcasm:

*sigh* We used to actually get .25 in our paycheck for every Bosch +4 we sold.

I sold 4 Bosch Platinum +4s in the entire time (about 4 years) I worked auto parts.

I sold them to this Honda kid that thought he knew it all ;)

To everyone else, I explained that electricity follows the path of least resistance, and therefore CAN NOT jump all 4 gaps at once.

I was in one the other day trying to order some special two stroke oil for my dirt bike. So I asked for "Two stroke or two cycle royale purple"

after 10 minutes on the phone with someone apparently as dumb as this girl was, she told me "Im sorry sir we only have two cycle oil, not two stroke two cycle"

I walked out.

Meh, good Platinums will last many years, and Iridiums even longer. +4's lasting a couple years doesn't sound too impressive.

Let's just say the truck wasn't in the best shape. Damn 82 had a carb and a million vacuum lines everywhere...

I always ran platinums, but decended to try the +4's cause they where on sale. Didn't have an issue with em for a good five years, and it was my DD...

They're not the best plug, and I sure as hell wouldn't put em in my supra, but they worked good on that tired old truck...

When one electrode gets 'tired' the spark just jumps down one of the other electrodes.

The big problem with me, is that the extra electrodes screws up a smooth flame front from the spark!

yep

call and try and find parts of a delorian or subaru brat... both of those I know they have barely anything for...

A/C compressor for an old beetle... water pump....

I can think of quite a few hilarious ones...
