I took my jeep into get new tires on no big deal just tires. I also ask to put my old tires into the back(they are brand new basically), oh and I asked for the lugs to be torqued on no air gun. So I drop it off, 20 minutes later they call...

'yea, so it looks like your differentials need fresh fluid. also your serp belt is really cracked and looks about to go. your fuel filter is over due for a change.'

Seeing as I just changed the diff fluids less than a month ago I knew its all BS(well I knew before but that confirmed it). The belt and fuel filter are also just fine. So whatever I decline any service other than my tire of course. I pick up the jeep and about to go and ask about the old tires, of course they arent in the jeep! He stashed them in a dam closet and was going to keep them Im sure! He acted all shocked they forgot about the tires, but he knew right where to find them! They also adjust my seat and marked my steering wheel a bit(still a mark that wasnt made by me!).

Of course when I got home, first thing came out the torque wrench! None of the lugs were on to spec, some were barely on some where REALLY on. I still gotta check the pressure before I drive it again.

Normally I would just take the tires off the car(supra) and take them just to swap the rubber. I figured the jeep tires are huge theyd never fit in the supra and I didnt have any other ride there... Never again though, noone touchs my rides.

Yeah I never have any shops work on any of my vehicles. They either want WAYY to much money or mess things up or try and get you to spend more money.

The way the shops are set up you really cant see anything. Of course your not alot in the shop area because of insurance issues.

hahah... funny stuff. at least you know the fluids been done... i was a service advisor for a bit and you could tell someone their piston return springs were shot and they would pay to replace them.

Yeah, they do that shit here too, then it pisses them off when u say ur a mechanic(when they say o you need brakes etc), you can tell their all butthurt about it, and I Really dont like them getting in my vehicle, hands COVERED In grease, clothes covered in grease, they adjust the seat.

I wont leave any of my Vehicles Unattended, IF i get new tires, i'v seen them Hotrod my supra before.. I think they should Pay someone to pull the vehicles to wherever they need, instead of a dirty Gorilla getting in a nice car..

They Also did that to One of my moms Employee's he's a Lil slow (dosent know the difference between 1,800 and 18,000) they said he needed new brakes, funny thing is i inspected them no less then 200 miles before he got new tires(plenty of life left in the brakes), they tried to Ripp his ass off, they said he needed abunch of shit, and its a 02? and i inspected EVERYTHING before he bought it.

Fuckers just want money, and.. it does fool alot of people.

get this guys..i went to get an alignment only to find out that i needed a wheel bearing replaced. they offered to do for "just 382 dollars" and "they would throw in an alignment for free" i thought to myself...what a bunch of assholes. so i just laughed at them and demanded my keys back. i then went to a friend of mine which happens to be a mechanic. i dropped it off last night and picked it up @ noon. it cost me $130 including parts and labor.

I just hate the whole repair industry altogether. Ive learned over the years alot doing my own repairs on the supra and that has carried over to my new jeep and motorcycle. I just refuse to go to a mechanic for anything unless I have to, which is now rare. I mean I cant mount and balance my own tires, yet.

Still any other type of repair service is just the same, they know you have no clue whats wrong or else youd be fixxing it yourself. It sucks when I have something that breaks be it a TV or a vacuum I know it could be serviced and be as good as new. However, I dont want to give these bastards money on 'repairs' I dont need. They always gotta bleed more money out of you. Id rather just by new than have stuff repaired anymore its such a waste but better than fueling the so called service industry.

I took my olds into sears auto and told them i wanted my brake lines redone. Their service charge for a general look around was $20 and would get knocked off if i had the service done there. They said sure bla bla and took the car and i was sitting there and the guy comes out and says, ok, here is what needs to be done, bla bla bla. He ends up listing all of these things that i needed done that i didn't ask for. I tell him that i just wanted the brake lines (that were rusted and leaking hardcore BTW) done. He then tells me that their shop is "blank certified" and that everything needs to check ok before it leaves the shop. After about 15 minutes of blabbering and me looking very displeased, he finally let me leave without paying the $20. Lets just say that was the last time i went there.

There are very few places that I'd trust to work on my car, I just can't give it to them, without watching them work on it.

On the other hand; STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT TECHS MOVING YOUR SEAT. Would you rather they can't drive the car properly and hit something? They can't remember exactly where you left it, just live with it, it's just something that happens when someone else is driving your car, deal with it.

Dammit.

PS: LOL.

OOO, that just reminds me of the time i took my supra to get a bent hub replaced. Worst servce ever. Took the car there and told the guy what was wrong, he says ok and takes the keys. I go on vacation for a week, come back and call him. He just then tells me that he "can't find the part" and that i would need to get one to him. WTF! Anyway, within 2 days i get a junked hub and bring it to him fully expecting it to be done in a few days. After about 4 phonecalls and a month he finally gets it done. I come and pick up the car (paid like 150) and am all excited. I drive the car home and notice it does ride straighter but it still doesn't feel the same. I get home and look at the wheel more closely and WTF, its still crooked pretty bad. I ripped off the wheel and looked at the hub and noticed that it was the same one that was on there before. The day after i was put in jail for a week:evil2: JK

THANK YOU JEFF!!!

I was going to say something but I generally try and stay out of these... but since you went ahead I'll follow your lead ;)

I work in about 10 different cars every day, and I HAVE to move every seat back (I'm 6"8')

Not really something you should be complaining about :)

That said I'll never let anyone work on my car if its something I can do myself.

If one of you two didn't say it, I was going to. I drive about 10 different cars /day too and that is the first thing I do is adjust the seat, unless im only moving it a short distance. Some cars are more responsive then others and that requires good feel of the pedals. With that said, I normally only move it front to back.

I remember one time me and a buddy were taking a 200mi round trip in his 86 325e with like 200k mi on it and we needed an oil change. Normally we'd change it, (his garage is bigger then his house if that says anything about how big of a gear head he is) but since we were running behind schedule, we decided to hit up a quick change joint for time's sake.
We went to the nearest one (Valvoline iirc) and told them what we wanted. As soon as we pulled the car in, the guy told us that their new policy only allows them to put synthetic in European cars. WTF? its a tired old bimmer... We talked more and he was cool about it, saying how stupid it was, but denied us dino oil. It was total BS really, but policies are policies.
So we went to the next place where we pulled the car in and out, let us have the oil we wanted, and even vacuumed and topped of washer fluid. lol They did check our lights and confirmed the fact that the low beams were out... But didn't deny service.

moving the seat back is one thing, fucking with the mirrors and everything else is another...

That reminds me... i gotta go take my car in and tget the tires rotated and balanced... (it's free, and I would do it myself, but the morons didn't put the wheel weights where I told them to, so the front caliper will knock the weights off...)

Well im OCD about my seat, i'll let someone drive my car, if they dont move my seat, even if its in the right position it was in before, i still feel very Okward in my seat for a really long time, (if they move it)

that's pretty much my rule of my car, dont move my seat

sure, they can hit a wall, and they'd be paying for it, and my seat would still be in the right place :)
