cadman: sigh... yeah, i'm not going to bust out my 9 if some dickhead flips me off, it's usually when they're yelling and screaming and about to get out of their car.

Please understand, I didn't mean to flame you. I just wanted to make it clear what my idea is for owning a weapon, and getting a CWP.

This next statement is not toward you, it's just a general statement to go along with the thread.

People yell at me some times, usually if you just wave and then don't look at them they go away. If you purposely yell back and elevate the situation you're partly at fault for what happens. People like that aren't mad at you, they are mad at other things in their life, and they are just too immature to deal with it the correct way.

If they're getting out of their car with a bat or some other lethal weapon, I would not pull my gun unless there was no other choice. (i.e. Driving away, honking my horn, showing them I'm calling the police, reasoning or talking them down.) Some times there's just no choice.

Story time. I heard this in my class. A guy was driving his car, and another car cut him off. He honked, the other guy flipped him off. He flipped off the other driver, and turned his brights on. The other driver slammed on his breaks. The guy swerved and came up beside him, yelling out rude comments. The other driver yelled back, threatening to kill the first driver. The guy pulls his gun, showing it to the other driver threatening to kill him. The other driver pulls out a .357 and shoots the guy 3 times, and drives off. The driver of the first car is still alive, and calls 911. He dies 2 times on the way to the hospital. But he ends up living through it.

Valuable lesson. If he hadn't kept going, elevating the situation, he wouldn't have gotten shot. And him showing off his weapon almost got him killed.

have you seen the video where the two hicks get out of the truck with a bat and attempt to go beat this BMW driver? The BMW driver gets out and sticks a gun in the guys face.

that's why I try not to fuck with people too much, just let things i normally wouldn't slide... you never have any idea who is carrying a gun.

yeh, if anyone ever gets aggressive w/ me in the least bit, i'll go out of my way to either lose or avoid them... there's no point risking some b/s if you can avoid it (supra's are faster and can out handle a mini-van)

thats pretty wild, ive been followed before, even confronted, but im a lot bigger than i look from inside my car. So nothing ever come of it. Up here in canada, most people dont carry guns (maybe 2 or 3%) so thats something we dont have to worry about. I usually just toy with them, then take off through a corner, make a quick turn, hide, then show up behind them.

one night all the power was out, so when i come up to a intersection with now power at the lights, i assume 4 way stop. Guy across the street stops, guy to my left stops, and the guy on the right is coming to a stop. So being the first at the intersection i start to go through, still watching the car on my right. He decides that he doesnt have to stop for me, and damn near rams me off the road. Before i could say "what and asshole" the car that was across the street, flips on his red and blues! HA, that sure made me feel good

hah...road rage.. parking lot rage is worse!

Last friday I took some dude's parking spot at the grocery store. He was just sitting there, so I took it. He got out and got in my face! After a bunch of yelling on his part, he raises his fist to hit me...

I studied Thai style kickboxing for 5 years as a young teen.

..so, he swings. I just let him hit me. His dumb ass hit me in the chest. I'm a big fat guy, so I figured it wouldn't do much damage anyway. He realizes that I just took it without flinching, and tries again for my face. I grabbed his wrist, lifted his arm, and brought his armpit to my knee, followed by the left knee to his chest. I let go, and he just backed away wheezing. parking lot security grabbed the guy and called it in, he got a ticket for disorderly conduct and I got a handshake. :biglaugh:

anyone ever seen the seinfeld where George was backing into a spot (parallel parking) and the other guy pulls in nose first. They both end up half in the spot and arguing about who gets the spot?? I witnessed the exact same thing Downtown Vancouver one night. It was awsome, screaming, yelling, the girl called her cousins and shit. No one cared, she tried to take the spot from and old guy, who was clearly fresh out of kemo (sp) so we all took his side and booted the bitch

My father carries(/d) a bigger pepper spray can in his car, sprays on i-don't-know-how-many-meters. Is veryvery effective and harmless.
He gave me a smaller can, so it's almost invisible in my hand and sprays on 2-3 meters I guess... cool thing:icon_razz

I have never yet had a problem with road rage, that I simply couldn't out-drive the other person.

I've been chased by all kinds of cars, and simply outdrove them so they were stuck in traffic, in a '99 Dodge Dakota V6.

I don't know what's wrong with some people, but I think we need more chlorine in the gene pool :biglaugh:

The best course of action in a road rage scenario is to calmly call the police (if you have a cell phone) and ask for directions to the nearest police station. Calmly drive to that location making sure you dont get yourself boxed in somewhere. If there isnt a police station nearby a fire station will do. If neither of those are options your best bet is to look forward, drive normally, and continue on about your business. The aggressor will get bored and leave.

NOTHING...and I mean NOTHING is worth loosing your life (or for that matter taking someone elses life) over.

I agree.

I'm not intending to start yet another flame war here, but I would disagree with that statement. Would you not risk your life to save someone else? Say a family member, or maybe your whole family? I can think of several scenarios right off the top of my head where it might be worth sacrificing your life. A lot of the scenarios could include the requirement of killing someone else. I would agree however that most things are too trivial to risk your life over.

oh right swaq...I didnt mean that in the global sence of things...I meant while behind the wheel. I guess it sounded broad scoped. There have definately been times in my life that I have been willing to lay down my own life for someone else, and that time may come again...but I can tell you it wont be on the road with some idiot with an attitude!

People are now idiots when it comes to driving. Texas has got to be the worst about bad drivers. Just yesterday on the way to work, I'm driving the way I always am (which is pretty slow accelerating, that's how I always drive, I wasn't in a rush, AND I was in the right lane). An RSX comes out of nowhere from the left lane trying to pass a car that was in front of him, which was right besides me. He has to slam on the brakes, then I see the WTF hands come from him. I was also going 5 MPH over the speed limit. Texas drivers suck.

Glock 20 here...been carrying it for the last 15 years.

Yeah...you never know who's carrying :naughty:
I agree with the "try to back out" first tactic, but have the fire power to win if cornered.

None of your fucking business
Cliffs:

Adam was checking out a grandma, then flashed some gang signs at the old man. He chased em down cause Adam was only running 17lbs of boost, well he thinks cause his boost gauge isn't hooked up. He got cornered in a parking lot, got out and got picked up by his neck(he couldn't even breath!) Luckily his little sister punched the guy out. Cops came, gave grandpa a ticket and let Adam go cause they felt bad for him (beaten by grandpa, saved by a girl, drives a teal car).

I dont think I could ever carry a handgun...because that would mean that I would have to be willing to use it...and thats not something Im prepared to do.

I still hold true to the idea that 99.99% of the time you can avoid ever putting yourself in a position to have to defend yourself with deadly force...but then again I dont live where some of you live.
