use a halon hard pipe extenguisher kit in the engine bay plumbed into 5, 10 pound bottles of co2

and maybe some duck tape... that shit is pretty useful too

on a serious note, turbo blanket coated pipes, my radiator and fmic will both be TLTD coated. procryo does tltd and ceramic coatings extremely cheap

What kind of oil are you using? Spark plugs?

Is your radiator clogged?

I am useing 20-50 valvoline high milage cuz I got 320miles on the original engine 7M-GTE. and I put lucas oil stabilizer. My wires are new and the plugs are NGK G Force. The radiator is not clogged but I do have to change out the antifreeze completely cuz its old fluid.

Hard to say. What exactly is it doing? If you're losing power on the high end I'd recommend replacing your plugs with Autolite coppers. They were $8 for 6 the last time I bought them and cleared up my high-end miss.

Oil temp of 140 is indeed bad news. His saving grace is that it gets higher at other times. Water is one of the two main byproducts of combustion and the oil must reach at least 180 in order to get rid of it or sulphuric acid forms. It's why short trips on an otherwise normal oil system are considered severe service that require more frequent oil changes. Lets hope he's either doing that or using an oil with a good TBN.

I am running Mobile 1 synthetic, and when the car stops in traffic it heats back to 180 degrees. So it does get hot enough to burn any moisture due to cool temps, and other impurities. Strange that even with a thermostat it never stays at 180 degrees

have you verified the operation of the thermostat? It sounds like it is either stuck open, or improperly installed. You're not using the mocal ot2 thermostat by any chance are you (there was a design change, thus there are two different sets of install instructions....pm me if you want more info)

Another note about removing the rear seal, is that you will always be sucking in hot engine bay air when you turn on your vents, A/C etc... so the way to get around this is to just trim off the ends of the seal (about 6-10" on each side) and just leave the seal along the cabin inlets just behind the hood.

Also like everyone is saying, keep the engine under cover on, and the stock mechanical fan pulls way more air than any electric fan can.

I guess the one thing missing here is whether the original author of this thread has removed the precat and replaced it with a downpipe. That was the single most heat reduction for me.
