Down but not out;1061324 said:I thought good operating temp for oil was 80 - 90*c (176 - 194*f) 140*f is 60*c which to me is a bit on the cold side. I was always of the opinion oil and coolant should run at the same temp (or there abouts)

Nocheez;1061272 said:Read up on fluid dynamics. Toyota did a lot of expensive research to make sure that air going into the front of the car is directed through the radiator, but when you change things around (remove stock fan or shroud, change the front bumper, remove the engine undercover) you negate that original design and scratch your head when your temperatures are going higher than they should.
I'm not saying all aftermarket parts are bad, obviously a larger aluminum radiator in place of the stock one will lower temps, but removing the shroud or undercover will have more consequences.
Noticed the same thing, by the time I can touch the header there's no way known I can touch the cam cover it's so hot by comparison!Tanya;1061346 said:+another for ceramic coat.
My header is ceramic coated and only takes 10 minutes or so to cool off to where I can touch it. My uncoated Pacesetter header you couldn't touch for HOURS.

Coatings FTW!

Go to that site and you can do them yourself!
It sucks that my new rad can't take a shroud.

Nocheez;1061342 said:I think you are correct. Cars that don't reach operating temperature generally aren't as efficient as they should be. That's why you have a thermostat to help your car reach operating temperature more quickly.
What kind of oil are you using? Spark plugs?SUPRASTEVE;1061698 said:My Supra runs better when cold but at operateing temp its not as strong any ideas?
