What is the easiest way to raise my boost psi on a stock ct-26 turbo? The engine is stock, with the exception of aftermarket bov. my boost is only reaching 4psi. do i adjust the bov? manipulate wastegate? I am wanting to invest in a boost controller probably just manual for the time being until i start getting more into the engine.

check your stuff first, stock boost is 6 or 6psi iirc...if your getting 4psi, either you have a boost leak or your gauge is not calibrated, mbc or ebc will get you to higher psi, but first check to make sure you have no boost leaks ect.

Only way i know of rasing the boost is just putting washers in between the wastegate.

But 4psi?! If thats all your getting i would definetly check everything before
you go turning up the boost and end up blowing whatever....

And no adjusting the bov wont do you any good. Is it venting to the atmosphere or
recirculated?

Seriously make sure everything is up to par before you go trying to raise your boost man.

Also what was the reason for getting a bov? the stock one is perfectly fine for
the ct26. Unless you just got it for the whoosh it makes.

You should look for reasons that your boosting so low. stock boost should get to about 8psi. check the turbo for play and check for boost leaks.

You can buy a cheep manual boost controller from ebay. You can make a boost controller out of an air compressor regulator. Shimming the waste gate works but is a pain if ya want to change the boost on the fly.

If you're only hitting 4psi. You probably have a boost leak. Once you check for boost leaks and fix the problem, you should be running at 6-7 psi. If you still want more without getting a boost controller, you can shim the wastegate by putting washers on the bolts for the wastegate actuator. I think with 4-5 washers, you can run 10 psi. I would reccomend getting some kind of boost controller though. You can get a cheap manual one for like 30-50 bucks. If you really want to shim the wg. I think there is a write up on sogi.

the bov is vented to atmosphere, put it on cause it was free and my old bov was shot.

The turbo does have some axial movement, side to side in the housing but it was boosting to 7 something psi before, i did the head gasket. car has no running issues either

I am using the stock gauge still, which is the one that read the higher boost before

How would i go about doing a boost leak test? Where to adapt what fittings any pics?

I do however have another gauge mechanical that i am going to install as well when i get time to do it (prefer mech over electonic any day)

So inform me on what the adjusting screw actually does on the bov? does it just change how much vac pressure it takes to open it?

I am not sure what kind of bov it is? think its similar to the hssq? i am not all that familar with bov's

I am def building the leak tester tomorrow.

Could it be possible to have the bov hooked to vac wrong? i have a t in the line with the boost psi sensor

When i got it the adjustment bolt was barely threaded in, would it make any difference whether i pulled the bolt out or just barely left threaded? what type of adjustment is it for anyways? vac psi to release or spring psi to keep boost from opening the valve?

Increases spring pressure so it doesn't get pushed open (though it's a pull type and won't do that anyway usually).

If you completely remove it you'll have a leak.
