ok, ill leave it in there then. I dont think the boost is pushing it open where its at anyways cause when it boosts it will hold it at 4psi, it doesnt drop off or anything funny, i would imagine a boost leak wouldnt hold psi correct? I am going to hook up the mechanical gauge tomorrow and see exactly where i am at, for all i know i may have messed up the boost gauge when i had the cluster out to repair a few things?

As far as i know i am not hitting fuel cut. it will wrap out to 6 grand if i push it with no problem, not planning on doing that often, but when i did boost stayed right at 4. I am going to swap out to the old setup to see what it does. I was told my oe bov was shot how can i tell?

Is there supposed to be constant vac on the stocker or no?

You would know if you hit fuel cut man. The car would jerk....VIOLENTLY. LOL

As far as the stock bov goes, I dont really know how to tell if its good or not. Sorry. I never used the stock one.

ok def not hitting fuel cut car runs too good. Did notice it takes a little bit to even build boost i really need to do a leak test, its almost like i can hear it creeping out somewhere than BAM it jumps right to 4?

Sometimes its just easy to listen to the car.

For mine, I ALWAYS heard this sucking noise coming from it. (engine running obviously) But I would listen and narrow it down to where it was coming from. And if the car is cold you can stick your hand in there and feel for where the leak is.

But really, go and see if you hear any sucking noise. Because it could be as simple as a vac hose came loose.

I have checked all vac lines and felt all connections for air leak, found none, i can only hear it when its boosting. I am gonna throw the old one back on and see what it does?

I think my turbo is about shot too, looking to upgrade anyways

What is the easiest way to raise my boost psi on a stock ct-26 turbo? The engine is stock, with the exception of aftermarket bov. my boost is only reaching 4psi. do i adjust the bov? manipulate wastegate? I am wanting to invest in a boost controller probably just manual for the time being until i start getting more into the engine.

^^^Detonation...

Well if your hearing a whistle, and it isnt the turbo spooling, then you have a leak somewhere. But some bovs will make a whistling noise, so your best bet would be to do the boost leak test.

I am gonna hopefully get one built up tomorrow, but first i am going to throw that stocker on and see what it does.

What would be a safe boost limit when and if i decide to up it? Based on the stock 7mgte with oem hg, some have said no more than 10 without further mods such as fuel and maft tuning. (head studs are a given, which are installed)

Might be dumb to ask but i would rather no the limits of it before blowing it up, i am still learning this car

Has the hg ever been replaced on it??? If not, I would say the safest boost would be stock. Because bhg will happen if you start upping the boost.

But my biggest recommendation, is just make sure your car is in damn good shape before adding hp to it. Trust me. Im learning the hard way with that one. Not completely my fault but I wasnt smart enough to check behind people after they did work.:3d_frown:

So just get your car running good, then start looking to add hp.

But if you REALLY REALLY REALLY have to add some more boost, 10 is about right for safety.

I actually just replaced the hg. The po had a metal head gasket installed but could not get it to seal up, and never ran it with it on, only idle found leaks and gave up. It is a jdm engine with like 50k on it, when he got it he had it fully machined for the hg, but i did not wanna risk it and can not afford to pull the engine to have it gone through again.

As far as running the car runs great not leaks no overheating, it does however smell a little rich at times? Not sure if its due to the bad gas that was in the tank that i could not get out, or if its in part because of the bov i got being vented to atmosphere?

Ok so i reinstalled the original set up still only 4psi, but now with out the noisy bov i can hear a "whooot whooot whooot" (sorry sound affects are hard to type) noise when the turbo spools. It sounds like an out of balance noise. Can too much shaft play cause that?
