how and where do i get an lsd?

i have an 86.5 N/A that i know for sure doesnt have an lsd. i know that the lsd came with all turbo models but i dont know where to salavage one, or if aftermarket would be better. so where do i find one, and how do i install it? and all advice or coments about diffs

You post in the want to buy section and look for a used one. OR look for a part out. Or junk yard.

Or spend 1k for a kazz or something and install into your diff housing.

Are you sure you don't have an LSD? What's the axle code? If it's 3 or 5 you got an LSD that's just tired and probably needs new preload shims.

I have a 90 turbo and the 4th to last number is 9.....

I'm not sure if the 86.5 came with the optional sport package or not. Non sport package models IIRC came without TEMS and had a 4.30 open diff. The sport package models came with TEMS and a 4.30 LSD. My 88 was a N/A sport package with the LSD.

Moy all sport packages come with Tems and an LSD??? if so then i do have Tems on my 87 (if i have an LSD i never put the additive in when i changed the diff oil...)

90 turbo you should have an LSD JDMfreak... unless were missing something...

well if this is true i had hopes but almost none since its an N/A auto. my 4th to last # is 2 my 5th is a 3 lol

I havnt seen one fall off yet.

And no. You can count the turns of the wheels but if its a 4.30 you wont be able to tell from that. Only if someone swapped a turbo diff in.

The sport packages came with almost every option. So if you have tems doesnt mean its a sport package.

I do have an tems switch on ny center consol. I will check my vin and know for sure if i fo have an lsd. If my diff shims are worn out it would act as a non lsd, correct?

Look at the vehicle data tag for the A/T (Axle/Transmission) code. It should be G28x/W58 or G28x/A340 for an auto.

For what it's worth, Canadian spec Mk3 NAs were all sold with the G285 (4.300:1 LSD) axles, so there should be a supply of them here.

Jack the rear of the car up and spin one wheel by hand, lsd will spin the other with it

Get a JZA70 diff. It is different and I think you need the axles that go with it. But then you could run a OSGiken LSD!

I have a an 89 turbo i know its a LSD and the sticker has fallen off. Almost all my customers at the shop with LSD's are missing the sticker. They just dont stick.

There's a rebuild for doing the shims somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.

how does a lsd affect a drift? cause i can do great dry payvment drifts if i clutch kick, but when i go to do dry payvment j turns i fail cause only one tire breaks loose.
