This entire thread is stupid and should be locked.

Why would ANYONE run from the cops? As it's been said, cops have more ways that just chasing you to be able to catch you; and when they do, they'll more than likely send you to jail for something that may have just been as simple as 10 MPH over! Is it worth it? I agree with mdr40z when he said it worth it just to pay the ticket. They pull you over for a reason= SAFETY! And if you run, you're jeopardizing not only yours, but theirs and everyone else's on the road! What's better. A $200 ticket? Or the death of 3 people?

And I don't buy that "Max out at 130" BS. There's a country trooper lives across the street from me. His car does about 160-70 when he pushes it. (He owned a C6 For about 3 weeks. Sold it cause it was "Too slow... I'd rather drive my Crown Vic!") And I also know a State Trooper who's Malibu does about the same. NOT TO MENTION all the unmarked cars that probably go faster than that! I got pulled by a '02 Firebird Trans Am once, and I've seen others around in
Vettes (of course I've also seen some Escalades... But that's another story...).

Bottom Line: MAKE GOOD CHOICES MORONS!

Im glad this was posted, seems like everybody must still be in high school.

No shit. It's the single greatest problem with every other "youth car culture" community I've seen. While true adults are guilty to a lesser extend the vast majority of 20-somethings and below who drive have the judgment, intelligence, and maturity of 12 year olds. It's as if time stood still for them. They have no right being near a car. That's made abundantly clear every day on this forum alone.

As long as they don't take anyone with them I hope those who run from cops end up getting hosed out of a mass of twisted and burnt metal into a bucket. The more of these self centered worthless punks, so-called human beings, who're stone cold dead the better it is for the rest of us. Same with the assholes who road race or drink and drive. That way they won't be out there endangering myself, my loved ones, or others. If they survive at minimum they should do years of hard time, along with receiving multiple hot pork injections from a guy named Bubba.

That's all I got to say about that....

4.6l engines came in 2,3,4 valves at different times.

crown vics were 190hp, 210hp, 235hp mostly depending on the exhaust. Some were dual exhaust, some single

The latest crown vic interceptors are 250 hp @ 5000 rpm/297 lb-ft. @ 4000 rpm/9.6:1 compression - 4.6 L V8

Interesting fact: Fords 4.6L v8 Has been on the top 10 list of "best engines of the year" a few times

Back when Ford was trying to sell the 140+mph Tarus SHO, the PD told Ford this.

Craig Peterson said:
....... They dropped the idea after being told by many commanders that the collateral damage certain to accompany a 140 mph patrol car couldn't be justified. Their officers had been convincingly demonstrating an inability to control much slower cars for many years. Putting high-powered cars into their hands was an invitation to disaster, they said.

From here:http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=10040

The few high powered cars that the PD has are controlled by qualified officers. The majority cannot control such a powerful vehicle, so the Crown Vic is a suitable car. I don't believe it goes super fast like some claim. However they don't need to. There are much more effective ways to stop someone, than trying to run them down and endangering the lives of your officers and throwing another 140+mph blunt object into the mix. It's been stated why running from the police is dumb so I don't have to repeat that. Simple fact is you screwed up, you knew you were doing it, so if you get caught, man up and pay the damn ticket.

I have an uncle thats an Orange County Sheriffe and I still don't belive a word he says:icon_razz But if some people reread the first post it says the average cruiser for got to add uhp which means the crown vics you see top out at 127-130mph. But the uhp is useing the new chargers and mustanges also among others.

Are most of the police cars over there crown vics? 250 is pretty respect when you think that many of our police cars barely make 100bhp.

Most of the police agencies have deals with domestic companies here such as chevy, ford, gm etc. So they do have others. I am seeing less and less of the crown vics and more of others though.

Other odd ones ive seen.
Ford focus, VW beetle, undercover oldsmobile aleros and chevy luminas. oh yeah and 1 honda SiR. Which was made for a street racing program. I also think i saw a toyota echo hatch once... I wasn't sure

why run? its much more fun to fight the ticket, taking the cop to court. hell, half the time you can talk to the prosecutor and work out a lower fine/no points if you plead guilty.
