Thanks....I cant help it I love Toyota sports cars!!! I cant wait to find a motor for this supra! Seriously if this car did not have the targa top I probably would have passed on it. I dont intend on doing any type of racing. I am looking for it to be a nice DD.

Putting a targa brace in kinda defeats the purpose of a targa doesn't it? You lose that "open air" feeling that is the purpose of the targa in the first place.

Not really. You still have the open air. The WeezlWing sort of resembles the framing of t-tops - you just have a bar going across the open roof area in the middle of the car. There is nothing on the outside or directly overhead.

In a MotorTrend review of the 1987 Supra Turbo (It's here on the forum somewhere) they stated that they took the top off and barely got a couple miles down the road and put it back on. They didn't like it one bit. Too much flex in the body.

I think it was MotorTrend. I'll see if I can find it.

I love my targa and I would not buy a hardtop unless it had a sun roof. Even then I would feel like I lost something. I use my targa pretty much every time I drive the car. I don't really drive in the rain and it is stored in cold weather. If I'm taking the extra effort to pull the Supra out of the garage, the top is coming off.

hardtop.. after owning 3 targa cars and 1 hardtop car (2x 91 targas, 1 92 targa, 1 87 hardtop).. the hardtop is much better.. even with it on the hardtop is more rigid.. I dont utilize the targa that much so not worth it.. and I HATE the shake from hitting bumps.. it annoys the shit out of me.

HT Sunroof would be awesome..

Once i get my targa leak sorted out I will be in LOVE with my targa. I have only had the car for about 1 month of summer weather so far and look forward to next spring.

Targa with the top off is a great feeling. There are few things I have enjoyed in life more than a good cruise with the targa down.

Targa better for all but racing...... as long as you dont have any leaks..... doh.

My 87 was a HT and my 89 is a targa. I would be happy with either one, a supra is a supra. You can't realy beat the Targa on warm sunny days when you want to cruse, but on the highway the targa must be on or the wind noise will kill you. My targa drives/corners better than my HT ever did, but that is probably because of all my suspension mods. If I could build a perfect supra for myself it would be a 92 dk blue with shadow gray interior and a sunroof(the only option I have yet to aquire).

I've had both. I loved my targa so much even now I still miss it. But at the same time I love the ridgedness of my hardtop I have now. For a DD/Fun car I love targa's. but if u are doing any racing building a HT is def. the way to go. I can feel a difference in my HT with how stiff it is and it seems quicker due to the lighter weight of it. All in all they are Supra's and I love them no matter what top they have.

The Juggernaut has my old
My first supra was a Targa top... but my current supra is hardtop... both turbo 5spds. There are good points to both... and both are still supras no matter how you look at it... I loved taking my top off of my first supra on warm sunny days and cruising but I love my hardtop and kinda prefer hardtop now.. as far as handling its hard to say because my first supra handled great and my current on handles great.. and i owned them 2yrs apart... either way you cant go wrong...

pppfttt, the reason I got the Supra was because it was targa...

If I want a rigid-ass hardtop I'll drive my dad's Rav4, if I want a sunroof I'll drive my mom's GS300...

I want to have fun, and actually enjoy the drive, I'll take off my targa and shift my own gears, thank you....
