I"m not much of a bickerer. I'm more of a fun loving redneck than a gun toting cussing redneck.

I don't see what is so wrong with pushing the envelope... I hear so many people cry about the way MKIVs get so much attention, but when asked to step up thier MKIII, :dunno: 400hp IS easy to make... 500 is a little harder...

600hp for only a drag car? what? So all these 2JZ MKIVs that are STREET driven 600+hp cars are what? Drag cars? Or is it because they have 2Js so they are touched by the hand of God?

I WANT an exclusive site... Sorry... It has nothing to do with my huge manhood, ;)... hahaha... But seriously, it's like this, I REALLY looked up to 7Mpower, I was THRILLED when they added me, but sad as hell when they let the site fold under... I went there to see the mods, the cars, get ideas, read the write ups... That's what Duane wants to do with this site, make it a destination site for MKIII owners looking to build a better car, a RELIABLE car... And, a destination site for those wanting to step up and rise above the average MKIII...

Anyway, there will ALWAYS be haters or people who want to put it down, or have better ideas or whatever... They have the energy to talk shit, but dont seem to have the energy to DO anything... Why not support it? Why not promote it? Why not appreciate what the man is trying to do for this car/community...

500hp... My vote...

I'm not personally worried about making enough power to get in, because I'm going to make 500whp with a 2.8 liter 7m, at over 8000rpm. :naughty:

I just think that there are a lot of nice cars out there that will never see 500whp. But that's just my opinion, I'm sure it will be a nice site with lots of nice cars, and the decision is already made. I wouldn't consider any of the people voicing their opinion here haters, just people who want to have some input on a cool new site.

I'd rather see a TORQUE based requirement as HP is just a number derived from torque.

Look at guys like IJ with monsterous torque, and I can show you other people with peaky setups making as much HP as him but we both know who would win that race...

All a person has to do is overrev their car to get more HP...

Sorry, just some constructive criticism...I hope...

I know you said not to bring power into this thread anymore, but I felt that I wouldn't be hurting anyones feelings with this post:

Why not have the front page be all 500+ and then an "honorable mention" section or something for the 400+ members. That way the people that really dig into their cars get the attention they deserve, and the moderate upgraders still get some time in the spotlight.

Just an idea... Either way I should be a part of it ;)

Jon

Suggestions are fine and I will look at that as well.

Thanks for any input.

gearing takes care of the rest (look at the TPI F-bodies with their ugly rearend ratio, they're fast because the gearing keeps it in the low end torque range)

not attacking you, but it brought up a good point about how to get to the required number...

I'd love a destroked 7M...

Since the thread was recently bumped, there has been a lot of good reading,
a little bit of butt hurting, and a lot of feelings being stressed.

I think it's wonderful. However, I'd like to throw in my pair of Abraham Lincolns on the table.

Day to day, It ponders my mind, out of the thousands of members on this site, how many people do this for sheer entertainment, bragging rights and 'my dick is bigger than yours' attitude.
Then I stop and wonder how many people do it because it's more than just a hobby...but rather a love, a passion.

As much as I enjoy hearing words of wisdom from Larry, I do think that this potential site will be success. Reason for mentioning the 'do it for passion or do it for a hobby' comment is because when it boils down to it, I think once you go beyond that 400-500ish hp mark, you've obviously done SOMETHING right... And at this point, it WILL be an inspirational site for others that need motivation, inspiration or are simply in the middle of a built trying to work their way on there.

A lot of us do it for the love and passion, but there wouldn't be any fun in it if it weren't for competition and bragging rights. Therefore, bring on the big dicks! :biglaugh:

*Not so much on ^^that^^...but respectable high output GTE's will work, too*. :icon_razz

O/T, but no - the stock 2.73 and 3.08 rear geared TPIs are NOT fast (without copious amounts of happy gas)

Set of slicks with a 3.42 (from a V6) rear end, and a stealth or superram intake to actually breath, then you'll get into the 12s.

As for the broad torque curve, that's why the LSx series is so bad ass. They never stop pulling!
