I don't understand the flow maps at all, but I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone. I have the gt3582 with a t3 flange. I made 543rwhp at 24psi on my 1jz. Now I've added the 2jz bottom end and I'm wondering if I'm going to run out of fuel first or run out of turbo. I've read that the walbro is only good for 500rwhp and that's what I plan on daily driving my car at. Is this going to be a problem for the walbro? What would you guess the gt35r is good for horsepower wise if I had more fuel? Is 550 going to be it's max? Thanks.

yeah i've heard over 500hp being made on the 3037, but not on a 1jz for some reason. I think the upperlimit on a non-built motor is around 400rwhp which is my goal. Perhaps the engine needs to be built, then you can just keep throwing boost at it =T.

Suprahero - i'm not sure how much power you're looking for, but if you're looking in the mid 600-700 range, you might want to look into the GT40 series at this point or larger depending on your response needs. you'll most likely run out of fuel as well. Do you know what your duty cylce was when you made 543whp?

I know I don't know the duty cycle, and I'm not looking for 600 or 700 rwhp. I want to daily drive it at 500rwhp on 93 octane @ approximately 18psi. I don't want my walbro going out on me because it's having to work to hard to do it. I think I read where it was good for 55psi so that means my car at 18psi my fuel pressure would have to be at around 37psi and the last time I adjusted it, it was at 38. I can't remember where I saw the math for this, but unless I did it wrong that's what it came out too.

If it's wrong, you can laugh at me, I'm used to it. But, you do have to show me the err of my ways. Thanks.

I am by no means a fuel expert, but i found an excel spreadsheet that someone in the MKIV community put together. with the Walbro 255lph pump he calculates that at 43psi fuel line pressure you're supposed to be good to 700chp.

if you're looking at ~500whp (~600chp) the GT35 will be a great responsive turbo. looks like you have enough fuel to keep going. make sure your injector size can handle it along with your fuel rail. I'm jealous that you get 93octane... i hate CA gas! haha

I can get 110 at a local gas station also, but I run 93 octane 99.8% of the time. Only when I'm going to the dyno do I get the 110. It's six dollars a gallon for that and about 3.10 for 93 octane. Thanks for the info.

no problem man, i wish we could get 93 for 3.10. Heck, right now i'd be happy to pay that for 91.

I'm having trouble selecting turbo size for my future 7m... I don't know what hp level I want right now, but would like something with good response, 93 pump gas, 300-600hp range, etc.

Jay, for Daily pump on 550's, your safest point would be 460-485rwhp. That's about 80% duty on the 550's. More than that you are pushing the envelope. We've made 520 on pump with these injectors but it is ill advised to do so...

for +500hp range you will definitely need the GT3582r 0.82AR. it will be a blast to drive on a 3.0L motor. If you're willing to trade a little lag (4k) for future headroom, then the GT40r series will do you good.

or you could go 1jz and put the 3582r 0.68AR in and have a more reliable motor..... :: puts flame suit on :: :evil2:

If they are the same thing, then why not say gt35r instead of gt3540r? is the 40 suppose to mean something?

I bought mine as a 3540r........

Trust me they're all the same thing just depends where you buy it what label will be on it.

I was seeing 2 Psi at 1900 rpm on my motor in top gear, I spent a good part of last yeat trying to kill off low to midrange power as it would explode into wheel spin at 3500rpm even at 60 mph.....(this was with a 1.06ar Hotside)

so I'll be getting a lot more low to mid end power with a smaller hotside?

yes, however it looks like based on IJ that a 1.06 on a GT35 will start making boost at 2k and be up and ready at 3500rpm. damn!

IJ, what motor do you have and what mods? that's amazing spool time for a GT35 especially with a 1.06AR
