2 jap drifters I know swear by the GT30/40.. As do many aussies I know of that slide jza70's. I've learned to listen..

Then again ultimate power isn't the goal.

I think they only make sub 400 numbers though, maybe 400+/- max IIRC. One has a few videos on youtube, maybe I can pick them out later today or tonight.

Only 400? i doubt that very much. If you look at how much it flows and calculate it, it doesnt add up. I have done the gt-30 on a 1JZ and we made 435hp at 24psi. Awesome spool, little worse than stock twins, but this 1jz had 272's in there so what can you expect.

Just ordered my gt3076r turbo should be here in a couple of weeks, I'm really hoping for quick spool which seems to be what most people agree on. And as for the horsepower 400hp is enough for what I plan to use the car for

Just fueling now 550 injectors, one item which I'm still not sure of is engine tuning is an safc2 with wideband up to the job?

i dont see the GT30/40 listed on garrett's website, so i assume you would need to buy the exhaust side of a 30R and the 35R compressor side and mate them together yourself?

does anyone have anymore info on this as it seems like it may be the perfect fit for my goals. :icon_bigg

its not a factory garrett part.. you will have to order it from a company that builds them..

search for gt3082r

i know this is kinda old but didnt want to start a new thread. what do you guys think of a precision sc61 ball bearing w/ .63AR. on a 1jz? what do you think that would be like? similar to the sp61gt? should be fast spool, plus capable of 600 hp. anyway whats your thought?

I have a SP61 Ball bearing, which is basicly the same thing, on my car with a .58 T4 housing, and I love it!!!!, it is super responsive with full boost available at about 3700-3800 rpm. It made 370 whp at 15 psi and 420 at 17 psi.

A .63/ar t3 housing is a little smaller than a .58 t4 housing. If you stuck with a t3 housing I would go for the next larger size, .84a/r I think would be the next larger size. Too small of an a/r will choke the flow down at higher boost/ power levels and you wont be able to make as high of hp numbers. I dont think you could make 600 on a smaller a/r, you would need at least a .68 or .70 t4 or .84 t3 or larger housing to flow enough.

Well i've recently been looking at the GT3076R for my motor as well and came to the conclusion that its probably the best street turbo for ~400RWHP goals. I've researched on various boards and for a 2.5L motor with highflow characteristics such as the 1j, the GT3076R fits the bill. Granted the GT3582R has more headroom and can get you to 500rwhp, you sacrifice low end response. As my goal is 375-400rwhp and low end response, this is most probably what i'm going with.

For those who have been staring at compressor maps from garrett, you'll notice that they aren't to scale. I spent some time superimposing the maps to scale and added flow lines for a 2.5L motor with 0.90VE. Figured i'd share with you guys since this decision seems to come up every so often. Enjoy.

The following is someone else's boost response curve. He has the boost come on slow for his application via SBC-iD, however this should give you a good idea of the quickspool of the 3076r. 1bar (14.7psi) around 3400rpm. not bad. the person who did this datalog ended up with just over 300rwkw (400rwhp)
