Any reason the middle one is oval shaped or is it my eyes flickering again? :aigo:
I can understand that the collectors' design is of utmost importance for the exhaust but in all honesty I can't see them being the hardest part of the exhaust mani to build. Forgive my ignorance, and that's a genuine statement, but being with the exhaust guy the last two weeks on n off and working on my mani, the collectors were relatively easy to design, form and preweld. Making the runners not go in all the wrong places and keep them in a similar length... :eek2: that's been a mind boggling task so far.

Steve, what are your 1st, 2nd runners like regarding block clearance with all the oil stuff down there? Your runners look a bit like mine but I think yours seem to be closer to the block. I have kept a 10-12cm distance of straight pipes from the main flange then started curbing them downwards and it's still tight. It goes without saying that I have a relocation kit there.

it isnt oval ;) it is the photo for some reason lmao

my clearences are a little tighter than yours because the 42 is big it leaves no room fo anything it is a knightmare task the runners are the easy part in my eyes but hey everyone is different but then again i couldnt make my collectors like yours i tried and they hit the cold side housing outlet that is what i mean by tight runners 1 @ 2 have to move down straight away else they hit the housing straight away there is only a 1/4 of an " clearence either side if that and i dont have a relocation kit for the oil either (doh) something to remember also is my headers are a bit bigger 48.33mm which dosent help lmao at myself on that one :biglaugh:

Ok I got you now, yes I can see how having such a big compressor can induce fittment problems. Mate there's absolutely no room downthere for the oil filter, heck there's no room for my fittings and lines to get through there let alone the oil filter. You are getting a relocation kit, right?
:biglaugh: Yes they are big man, no need to brag about it, size doesn't matter, it's what you can do with it :boink: :poon: .
Seriously though, I'm a sucker for low end torque, do you think my runners are not wide enough? I mean, doesn't the size of your turbo and the rest of your motor's mods have to be in relation with the size of the exhaust mani. runners?

well yes other supporting mods are always a deciding factor but the size of the runners can only help the tq your runners are prob fine but it wouldn hurt to go that bit bigger and fin a few more lb's but i think your fabricator will be pissed with you if you change it now lol

Yea that's what I think too. I mean he's put a lot of effort so far and he's been quite keen but I don't think he's gonna like scrapping all these 316 ss preformed bends he used. I can still ask him tomorrow though :evil2: . How will you make the runners come off the main block flange though. My runners are already bigger that the block's ports. Will you use reducers, like let's say 38mm short runner widened to 48mm and take it from there?
