I refuse to put work into something that I would rather replace. If I do, I'll want to keep it. And there is no good reason to want to keep the stock manifold. :D

Well since your at it, you should replace the turbo with a bigger one too :biglaugh:

Lookin' good Dave!:bigthumb: A big, beautiful Boss 550 Stage IV turbo, or a GT35R would look right at home on the exhaust manifold!:boink: :naughty:

Nah, if I go for a bigger turbo I'm likely to wait until the variable vaned turbos are available, then put in something with ball bearings and an equal volume tubular header.

Really, though, chances are I'm done with the engine end of things for a while... I'll likely move towards paint and interior for the next few years. Unless I manage to break something, in which case it needed replacing with something tougher anyhow.

The reason for the rebuild... well... some people are going to balk at this. ;)

I bought some nice shiny parts - JE Pistons, in particular, but there were a few more. When I started the new job, I stopped driving to and from work... and with the missus away most of the summer (she spent most of it with her folks, on pregnancy leave) I had access to our other family vehicle.

When I realized that I had started up the car ONCE in three months, I figured I might as well use the downtime. So, in august I tore it down to put in all the new bits.

Realistically, I could have waited... but hey, I had spare time and wanted to wrench. :D

I was wondering where you had gone Grim. I figured you were lurking around let alone building an engine. Hope everything else goes smooth for you.

a hockey tape gets gooy over time but has hard time unraveing

or use the best 3m tape you can get and use zap straps and don't do it in one wrap do it in peacs resalt's will be good
