My official submission for now: 6:40.228

1990 JZA70 Twin Turbo, Medium Race Tires, No Nitrous, With Spoiler

I'm still making stupid small mistakes in a few places. I really need to clean those up. Should have had a 6:38 that time, I know it. Oh well. I've got work in a bit, so I'm not going to post any more times until maybe this evening. Hopefully someone will have gotten close, or beaten me by then. ;)

If so, I'll just have to try harder, lol.

Jeff

(EDIT: The other thing is I think I need to work on my tuning a bit. I just did some and gave it a shot, seemed to work out pretty well, but I've got to be careful not to hit rev limiter on the straight, which is happening at about 306km/h (190mph). I know if I chance a bit I can get it tuned better).

Well see the thing about it is, we practiced only Nurburgring for a few months (and nothing else) to be good enough to do the 24 hour endurance race without sucking the big one, so I'm pretty good at it ;).

I'll see what I can do on El Capitan and maybe grab a screenshot of my 'Ring times. :)

go balls-to-the wall over the zero-gravity hill. :) dont jump it, but go as fast as possible and crank the downforce. do you use super soft tires? gosh i hope so or i'm in for a run for my money.

how do you use nitrious anyway i couldnt figure it out :(

R1 is the sucker-boost.

Jeff - holy poop! i didnt even want to consider doing the long-long endurance races. i dont know how many i actually did in a-spec on gt4...i did them in another GT game but i just dont have the time to spend on this stuff. :p

come on guys, somebody beat me or i'll keep playing San Andreas!!:biglaugh:

I just got test drive eve of destruction today. interesting and pretty fun game. i was hoping for more spectacular crashes though. however i've ALWAYS wanted to be in a race with half the pack going the other way :evil2::evil2::evil2: and this game has that.

GT4 suicide laps just aren't that fun to watch... i really really wished they had used realistic vehicle damage it would bring a whole new level to the world of lifelike simulation racing. OH TURD, BHG!!!

Okay I switched to Super Soft tires and pulled off a 6'31.879. 6'20s are definitely in the making. I'm still making the same mistakes I was before but now I'm taking them faster and it's causing issues.

Something I meant to ask, and I assume everyone is, but is everyone using manual transmission? I am. I'm still using assists though, normally when I do race cars I like assists off, but I don't think the Supra can take it. Who knows. I'll give it a shot maybe later.

As for screen shots, that'll have to wait until tomorrow, my camera's not charged and my brother's isn't at home.

Still need to give El Capitan a shot.

yeah, definitely manual ;)

I tried auto on the drag and that was a total buzzkill. and i won't use auto on the courses because i have to be able to hold boost. i haven't raced auto in a long time and i didn't want to bother trying it because i'm almost certain my laptimes will suffer considerably.

uhhh...what aids?

ABS? oversteer understeer? there are a few aids, as well as the gay steering aid...

How can anyone consider the force feedback assist to be helpful? i find it incredibly more difficult to control because it turns the car for you a little and i end up loosing control :p

plus...i can't control the supra worth a damn with the driving force wheel so i gave up. i'm much more precise with the thumb stick and my fingers move faster than my feet can on the mediocre pedal-holding design that slips a little bit over the course of a race. and i can't feel it right having to sit in one spot behind the odd wheel. and i can't shift with those paddles. basically it's a PITA to steer and paddle shift at the same time because i dont plan well enough to avoid shifting when its inconvenient.

its a video game...oh well.

I meant traction control/vehicle stability control.

As for the wheel/pedals/paddles.... n00b. It's rediculous how much better I am at GT4 with the wheel than without. At first I wasn't as good, but give it just a little bit of time and it's so much better!

i vaguely remember getting good with it. i shall try to give it another try i suppose.

although i had some MADNESS trying to keep the g's from force-steering the car, how high do you turn up the force feedback? i think your turning capabilities allow you to turn the car's front end in much smaller movements than mine... :( :( you do have the capability to spin it around a few times like an actual car, no? mine doesnt do that.

Which Driving Force do you have? The Pro or non-Pro? I think GT4 is setup to suit the Pro/G25 with the 900 degree rotation more than other wheels. Not sure if the sensitivity is adjustable in-game. :(

Well that kind of sucks for you. (But not for me. LOL).

Jeff

(EDIT: Get a G25)

Update: 6'25.528

Also, I brought John (Stanzaspeed) over to witness the time. My brother forgot to bring home his camera again, so I can't take a pic until tomorrow. :(

HAHAHA

heh...nice time! I havent played at all since my last times. i felt content and went onto my busy schoolwork :(

But yeah, GT4 has settings for the driving force, which is what i have... but i think any wheel that has 900 degrees of rotation is a kick-ass amount of fine manipulation compared to mine. for me, i can't barely hold the wheel still and with my supra's setup i HAVE to in order to avoid the car going into snapsteer from left to right on and on until it's no longer possible to control. I was getting it though...maybe in the future when i have more time i'll perfect it. until then it's exponentially easier to grab the controller ;)
