Definitely Andy he told me he'd make sure it was building oil pressure for me.

But ill double check of course.

Another friend told me that all I need to do is pull the crank pully off and put a drill on the oil pump gear to get it spinning fast enough to prime the system

Just need a crank pulley bolt to turn the crank. Pulley doesn't need to be on but should be if starting.

i don't get the theory of how a "drill" or even an impact gun will spin faster or more efficently to help build pressure than how we did it with no spark plugs installed second car jumped to the mk3 and cranking it with the starter?

Yes, IJ, it's crank driven. The pump fits over a gear that is on the crank and it will need to be lined up properly before slipping over it.
Sounds the same as my LS (thought that was the case just wasn't sure) , next question for me would be are the o-rings installed between the Pump Body and the Block...

Funny you mention the ls motor because he did too (what they normally build) he said it was like the ls and that he has to hook his pump to them also to get oil on the pump he didn't seem to think it was a big deal and that he could fix it.

The motor is warrantied by him so if it breaks they'll build me another
