seriously for the cost involved in sumping the tank and hooking it all up... I'd say just go twin walbos... that's what I did and I have no regrets other then the fact that my car pulls so hard now that it runs out of fuel if you go under 1/2 tank of gas because it's all pushed back to the back of the car. :(

Is this happening with the stock gas tank with the stock baffles?

You all have your opinions without knowing the facts..... If you read my very first post i said that i keep my tank at least half full, i full my tank every time i drive my car and its my weekend ride. I dont take long trips either. And when i had my sump welded in i had baffles installed to keep the fuel in the front half of the tank.

still not a good idea and you have set up a fuel system that fights against the grain. My fuel system is the dual walbro set up, not saying it is the best, but for what i do it works well. Don't get me wrong i am not trying to be a know it all or knock your set up but it is still not a good idea.

your pumps are mounted a bit too high in the tank, you're usually good till a bit above a 1/4 tank

i thought long and hard about my fuel system. If you go external then you must do a proper install with a sump, correct sized lines and mount the pump below the fuel level. This opens up some other problems like 1 the cops atleast around here. 2 crooks and 3 the element of surprise for your potential race. Another thing i did not like is most the external pumps are not self priming and like to run hot if not installed properly.

The dual walbro installed properly works well. I ran and extra -6 line and filter from the tank to the rail. So i now have two -6 feeds and a center return to the regulator and from the regulator to the tank. Two relays for each pump and a trigger from the standalone. Spent the bit of extra cash for the pump insulation rubber from mvp also. The pumps run quiet and i just keep the tank above 1/4.

Down side is if one fails under boost you could blow the motor but it will sputter first so you do have a chance. This is how i know about the sputter as i had a defective fuse and had a pump cutting on and off. This has taken me to 624rwhp so far and over 8k miles

dual walbro is going to be cheaper, but like others are saying the fuel will get sucked so fast that it will go dry at 1/2 to 1/4 tank, the other thing is like what the last guy just said, if a pump fails it will go lean and have potential at blowing your motor, with the external it will be a tad louder and will cost a little more, i just paid 70$ for a sump and 310$ for a a1000. but with both your going to have to buy some stuff for electrical, wires/relays/connectors. they say with a dual walbro your supose to use the electro magnetic wrap from MVP but other say you dont, i would though just in case. with the external your going to need a pre filter and a filter after the pump as for the dual i would say just one filter would do, as for the pump getting hot for the external idk bout that i remember duane saying he did some major road trips on his a1000 no problems. both of the pumps are going to require some extra work though for mounting them "still trying to find a area for my a1000" the dual pump setup there is a hanger availible but for the price of the hanger and 2 pumps you might as well have just bought the external. if you have a welder or a friend with a welder i would be bugging him as much as possible to help you out with this project as it will be required for making mounts/hangers/bunges and fittings. then you will also have to decide on the size of your hose's for a dual i was told to do -8 feed and a -6 return. the external im planning on doing -10 from tank to engine then split to x2 -8 for a dual feed and either a -8 or -6 return. but im also going a little overkill so depending on what kinda injectors your going with and the hp your planning on going for the size for an external could be changed, my case im going with 850cc RC injectors and 700+ hp. keep your eye out on ebay for some fuel pumps and see what you can find, just do what i did and think of the future and not your pocketbook. if you would like to take the risk of blowing your motor go for it, but dont say i didnt tell you so :p. or buy the dual walbros now and get an external later. btw i've got a 255lp walbro for sale now its brand new never been used 80$, pm me if your interested. good luck with the build

A surge tank will solve that problem.

When I ran the A1000 pump, I had no problems at all. Mounting it was no problem either.

What is the average life of a Walbro? My car came with dual pumps, duel lines, and duel feed rail.

the life of any pump assuming there is no defect is related to how well it is installed also stay away from e-bay for any parts

reviving an old thread because it does have alot of good info but does anybody happen to know one the thread size and pitch is of the drain plug on the OEM tank? I cannot find anyone local who will sump the tank for me so I am going to use that as my fuel feed source for my A1000. In the current time the car is in the garage will fuel in the tank so I cant just take it off lol

Thanks!
