I am having one hell of a time running down the reason that I have not been able to start the car in the last few weeks. For some reason, I kinda forgot about this thread. I finally got the car to run good enough to go get it registered.
Here's how that went down. I had it running good, and had to go get some gas to make the trip to get it registered. After fueling, the car would not re-start. It took me a good while to figure it out. I finally found a 2-pin wiring connector near the fuse block that was not connected good, because it did not match up connector wise. After taking the connector off of one end, I was able to hook the terminals directly to the other plug, and the car started right up. I decided to wait for the next day to go register. As I got home, the car started to run a little crazy. One of those wires had come back off. I put it on, and it cleared up right away. So, the next day, I was able to find a little extra slack on those 2 wires, and it ran well. I ventured out for the 10 mile drive to get it registered. I guess I should mention, through all of this, it did always take longer than it should to get the car to start every time I tried. I thought that was the cold start. So, the car did great on the way there. I pushed it up to about 80-85 on the interstate, and I was in love with the ride. It still needed some tuning for full power, but it was the best I had seen out of the car yet. I had no trouble getting it registered on the first try. But, I still had to get home. It made it about 1/2 way home, and again started to run all rough, as if the wires had come loose again. Not having a clus what those wires were, I turned the car off to play with them. I snugged them up, but it would not start again as it had. I hadn't done my walk for the day, so the 5 mile walk home wasn't too bad. I waited on the wife to get home from work, and we went back to see what it would do. We put jumper cables on it, and it took about 10 minutes of on and off cranking to finally get it to fire up. When it started, it ran really rough, and almost would die if I tried to make the car move. I took the cables loose, and was standing behind the car explaining to the wife that I did not think it was going to make it home. 2-3 minutes went by, and all of the sudden, it kind of choked, and then started to run fantastically. I jumped in, and headed home. It drove great again all the way home. That was the very last time that the car has run. I have tried for a couple of weeks now to get it to start again. It's pulled in to my carport, where there are no lights. It has been overcast and somewhat dark with the motor behind the open hood, blocking most light coming that way.
I have tested several parts per the TSRM. I replaced my idle speed control before breaking out the book. I now have 2 good TSRM tested ISC's! I found out that specs on a 92 CPS are different from specs on CYGNUS, which I thought was for a 91. I have no idea what year CPS I have, but the brains around the site say I am OK there. I'm hoping tomorrow that I can get into testing my coil pack, TPS, and igniter. I also did add the extra ground to my igniter somewhere along the way. That is supposed to be one of the best things you can do under the hood. Maybe it will help idle after I get the starting problem figured out.
